JOB TITLE: Netball Development Officer

DEPARTMENT: Development

REPORTING TO: Regional Manager

JOB SUMMARY:To work closely with the netball membership and partners within the County to develop, and deliver the plan for netball in the County, within the context of the Strategic Business Plan and best practice guidelines.

KEY TASKS:Back to netball (B2N) and increasing adult participation

To organise, promote and monitor B2N programmes.

To develop and sign post B2N participants to relevant exit routes including B2N festivals, leagues and clubs.

To pilot other initiatives and opportunities to increase adult participation and affiliation as agreed.

Children and young people

To work with local partners to plan and support the delivery of national interventions and programmes including High 5, School Games, school club links and young volunteering/ leadership initiatives.

To support registered and accredited CAPS clubs.

To work with schools, clubs and community groups to develop new junior clubs and to increase the number of young people participating in Netball.

To promote schools affiliation packages and increase the number of affiliated members

Education and training

To organise and administrate England Netball coaching and officiating workshops in line with agreed priorities.

To promote all England Netball education and training resources, workshops and courses.

To signpost coaches, officials and volunteers to local mentoring schemes and opportunities.

Working with volunteers

To work in partnership with the County Chair and County Netball Association to deliver and monitor the County plan.

To access local funding support and signpost potential clubs, coaches, officials and volunteers to relevant schemes.

General

To support research, promotion and development of products linked to the participant centred approach.

To work and communicate with key partners including the County Sports Partnership.

To respond to enquiries.

To provide a level of administration support to the County Academy programme where agreed.

To be a CRB evidence checker and trainer.

To carry out agreed County or Regional specific projects as appropriate.

To abide by the provisions of the England Netball Equality & Diversity Policy.

To respect and promote the spirit and intentions of the Company’s Safeguarding and Protecting Young People in Netball Policy.

To undertake such duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the post and the needs of England Netball.

Knowledge /
  • Knowledge of the sporting landscape, current initiatives and programmes (E)
  • Knowledge and experience of working with volunteers and/or voluntary groups (D)
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of health and safety issues in event/activity planning (D)
  • Experience of achieving targets with limited resources and tight timescales (E)

Education/
Qualification /
  • Sports Related degree or equivalent (D)
  • Netball Coaching Qualification Level 1 or above (D)

Experience /
  • At least one years experience of coordinating and implementing sports or community development programmes in a paid or voluntary capacity (E)
  • Understanding and experience of project and event planning (E)
