Job Title:Marketing& Fundraising Coordinator

Project and Location:BCM Headquarters

Main Purpose of Job:The post-holder will be involved in marketing the BCM brand, services and related business activity in order to assist the organisation in maximising its exposure potential. The post holder will also be involved in fund-raising activity ensuring that BCM avails of all potential income generation opportunities.

Main Job Tasks

Marketing

  • Assist with the implementation of BCM’s marketing strategy ensuring that key performance objectives are achieved for the department
  • Develop the BCM Brand; ensure that this brand is marketed to the appropriate audiences in order to maximise potential exposure
  • Work closely with external design house in order to develop specific/ relevant marketing resources/materials (e.g.) brochures, leaflets, mail etc that fully represent (and sell) BCM in terms of market exposure
  • Organise Marketing events at key times in order to fully promote BCM to the relevant audiences
  • Develop and maintain links with local press and media in order to promote BCM’s work
  • Arrange for the timely distribution of marketing materials to coincide with business activity / events
  • Work closely with external suppliers to ensure quality and speed of service; ensure best price for materials and negotiate where appropriate
  • Maintain effective use of IT/Technology in order to maximise marketing activity (e.g.) Microsoft Office to include word and excel; Social Media (eg) Facebook & Twitter; company websites.
  • Monitor social media and website activity on a daily basis.
  • Undertake research in relation to the charity/voluntary sector to determine key marketing / fundraising opportunities and associated trends
  • Maintain effective databases of all Marketing & Fundraising Activity and develop a systematic approach to monthly, quarterly or annual marketing/fundraising drives
  • Be involved in developing BCM’s lobbying & policy work
  • Develop close relationships with project managers to ensure a regular flow of information for marketing purposes and that their communications support needs are met.
  • Undertake mail shots and e-marketing campaigns as required.
  • Assist with copywriting and proof reading across all marketing materials.
  • Use Microsoft Publisher and/or Photoshop to create BCM’s external Newsletter and marketing leaflets.

Fundraising

  • Collate relevant data in order to complete funding applications
  • Maintenance of database in relation to appeals process
  • Organization of fundraising events and the annual Christmas Eve street collection
  • Preparation of direct mailing appeals
  • Proactively identify new fundraising opportunities
  • Assist with the organisation of legacy fundraising
  • Building and maintaining relationships with BCM’s donors (including schools, churches and corporate donors)
  • Develop/ research/ create fundraising initiatives in order to generate income

Other Duties

  • To work flexibly (this could include working evenings, weekends) and be available to work at times appropriate to the needs of the department.
  • To participate fully in the work of BCM fundraising events, e.g. attendance at BCM’s Annual Street Collection on Christmas Eve.

GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Duration:Permanent

Hours:35 hours per week.

Salary:£20,668 - £22,387 (BCM points23-25)

Holidays:20 days per annum plus 12 Statutory Holidays. The office will be closed for a week at Christmas and employees are expected to keep 2 days of their annual leave to cover this period.

Probation Period:Six months.

Pension:Entitled to join after three months service. Staff are required to make a minimum contribution of three percent of basic salary to their personal pension within the Group Scheme.

Mileage:40p per mile

Period of Notice:Less than six months service = 1 week.

Six months service or more = 1 month.

Criteria / Essential / Desirable
Qualifications/
Attainments / 3rd level qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g.)BSc Communication, Advertising & Marketing
Knowledge &
Experience / 2 year’sexperience in a similar role where Marketing has been a primary responsibility
IT literacy to include Microsoft Office, Desktop Publishing, word & Excel
Excellent working knowledge of Social Media in respect of Marketing (and fundraising initiatives)
Able to creatively produce basic design work using platforms such as Publisher
Experience of working with the media / Have undertaken a significant marketing campaign with positive financial and/or PR return for the organization.
Demonstrable experience in Fund-Raising to generate income; evidence of developing and implementing fundraising activity/initiatives and in completing funding applications
Working knowledge of Raisers Edge fundraising database
Knowledge of Photoshop
Communication / Ability to communicate with Senior Staff; third party agencies; governmental representatives; key business stakeholders
Ability to work as part of a team while demonstrating an ability to work on your own initiative
Excellent time management with excellent organisational skills and a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
Creativity & Innovation / Ability to use organizational brand to effectively create professional and targeted marketing material that will successfully promote and represent the organization to a range of audiences
Ability to analyse business sector and be innovative in terms of establishing effective marketing channels to suit service/business model
Circumstances / Flexible attitude to work and working hours
Able to work designated days (If applicable)
Full UK Driving License with access to a car when required.
