Job Title:MaintenanceWorker - Carpentry / Joinery – 2 posts

Department:Facilities Team

Responsible to:Maintenance Team Leader / Maintenance Manager

Location:Based at Shakespeare Street – Sports hall redevelopment

Contract:Up to 3Months Fixed Term Contract

Hours:37.5 hpw

Salary:£18,000pa (Pro rata)

Job Purpose

  • To undertake a range of carpentry, joinery and other maintenance work during a refurbishment project within our sports hall at Shakespeare Street
  • To support the development of an organisational culture that puts our Christian Core Values -Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility - at the centre of all we do
  • To assist other maintenance workers as required in other locations on an ad hoc basis

Principal Responsibilities

1To ensure that all required carpentry and joinery work is undertaken as directed in order to ensure the sports hall project is delivered to a high standard and on time.

2To undertake other maintenance duties (e.g. building or moving furniture, decoratingetc.)and deal with unplanned / urgent tasks as required.

3To work with colleagues, managers, residents and contractors to ensure the health and safety of all our premises

4To deal with maintenance emergencies related to the sports hall development project outside of normal working hours

5To report any illegal or unacceptable behaviour to management

6 To undertake other tasks as may be required and in line with the responsibilities and duties of this post

To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by your Line Manager or anyone else designated by the Chief Executive Officer, as necessary. To work in a flexible way to ensure that workload is completed and to undertake any other jobs commensurate with the seniority of the post.

To exercise discretion in the performance of the duties of the post, to use best practice and to ensure the effective and efficient use of resources.

Nothing in this Job Description is intended to authorise the post-holder to undertake responsibilities that belong properly to trustees and members of the Executive Management Team unless properly authorised to do so by the Chief Executive directly or through an appropriate manager.
