Job Title:Kitchen Porter (part-time post)

Responsible to:Kitchen Team, Sous ChefHead Chef

Department:DLWP Kitchen

ROLE OBJECTIVES

To deliver a fresh, high quality, food offer for the DLWP Café Bar & Kitchen and on site private and corporate events.

To ensure the quality of the visitors’ experience of the DLWP Café Bar & Kitchen.

To take responsibility, with the wider team, for the DLWP Kitchen operation and the entire food operations across the DLWP.

To ensure the highest possible standard of presentation & cleanliness in all areas of the DLWPCafe Bar & Kitchen (both in the Kitchen itself and the front of house & back of house areas).

To be responsible, with the Kitchen Team, for ensuring the DLWP Café Bar & Kitchen adheres to Health & Safety legislation.

OUTLINE OF ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist with the smooth running of the kitchen production areas.

Wash dishes manually and also by using the dishwasher.

Assist in basic food preparation.

Clean pots, pans and any other kitchen utensils.

Maintain the kitchen work areas in accordance with HACCP regulations.

Store away all crockery, cutlery etc.

Sweeping and mopping the kitchen floor.

Empty bins when they are full and relocate rubbish to designated bins in bin store and side roadway.

Report any fault equipment to the chefs to arrange repair.

Keep the storerooms organised and clean at all times.

Keep breakages down to a minimum.

Comply with the daily cleaning rotas.

Take all dirty linen and cloths from the kitchen and launder is the backstage utility room.

Attend company training sessions when required.

Attend departmental meetings when required.

Accept food deliveries from suppliers and store them in appropriate areas.

Assist in other areas when required.

Use the correct amount of specialist chemicals when cleaning work surfaces and equipment.

Ensure that at the end of the shift the kitchen is ready for the following morning.

Train new staff members in the Kitchen Porter role, when required.

To represent the organisation on a range of occasions and undertake such other duties commensurate with the postholder’s level of responsibility and seniority as may reasonable be required.

Hours16 hours per week (generally 2 x days) with additional hours & holiday cover when required.

Evening, weekend and public holiday working is a requirement of the post

Salary£ national minimum/living wage

Annual Leave5.6 weeks (pro rata)
