Job Title:Interim Human ResourcesAdvisor - Recruitment

Responsible to: Human Resources Director

Location: Nottingham Voluntary Action Centre, Mansfield Road, Nottingham but with travel to other sites

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: Circa £22,000

Duration:Up to 12 months

Background

This temporary post has been created to launch and embed an new on line recruitment and applicant tracking system, upskill and support managers and create recruitment and workforce development strategies to support our future growth strategies

Primary purpose of post

  • Working with managers to providea professional recruitment service including assisting with shortlisting, interviewing, designing and implementing recruitment exercises, on-boarding and ensuring vetting processes are in place for all our departments
  • To provide recruitment and selection training for managers
  • Working with managers to devise recruitment strategies for future recruitment and workforce development needs
  • To provide generalist HR support to employees and managers as required
  • To support the development of an organisational culture that puts our Christian Core Values– Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility- at the centre of all we do

Principal Responsibilities

1Recruitment

1.1 To develop and implement the on line applicant tracking and recruitment system and manage applications, monitoring and records relating to recruitment, selection, job descriptions, job offers, induction and probation including sending out application packs; collating shortlisting packs; dealing with queries; chasing documents; taking up and verifying references, DBS and identity checking etc

1.2 To advise on, administer and take part in shortlisting exercises, tests, recruitment interviews and other selection processes

1.3 To review, improve and be part of the induction process for new starters

1.4To work with and support managers to development recruitment strategies to meet future staffing needs as services are planned in new service areas, locations and markets

1.5To undertake quality assurance exercises on recruitment exercises and to investigate and respond to recruitment complaints, to challenge inappropriate practice and ensure that any learning is embedded

1.6To maximise the impact of the new applicant tracking and recruitment system to ensure that the investment is worthwhile and the customer experience is maximised

1.7Under the direction of the HR Director, to review all recruitment and selection policies, procedures, procedures and documents

1.8To work with the Marketing, Communication and Funding Team to ensure a consistent employee brand and employer offering throughout our recruitment and selection process

1.9Working with the Marketing, Communication and Funding Team to develop on line and hard copy recruitment materials, attending recruitment fairs and developing traditional and non traditional recruitment channels

2Training and Development

2.1To train managers in effective recruitment and selection methods and skills through workshops and coaching

2.2To train staff and managers and ensure the effective use of the on line applicant tracking and on line recruitment system

2.3To assist in the delivery of our corporate induction programme and other HR workshops as required

3Administration / Management Information

3.1 To identify and initiate improvements to processes to maximise performance and efficiency

3.2To work with managers, the IT Manager and the HR team to ensure the accuracy of all information on the Recruitment system

3.3To monitor, record, collate, analyse and present employee information and undertake all administration relating to but not limited to staff turnover, sickness absence, performance indicators, benefits, salary sacrifice, wellbeing, pensions, employee engagement and demographic composition

4 Employee Relations

4.1 Under the direction of the HR Director, to provide advice, best practice guidance and challenge to managers and employees on employment law, HR policies and procedures, terms and conditions etc

4.2 Under the direction of the HR Director to support, mentor and advise managers on issues relating to staff including sickness absence, performance, disciplinaries, restructures etc

4.3 To identify, research, implement and evaluate initiatives and efficiencies to improve our employer offering including employee engagement initiatives, work experience schemes, employer branding, work shadowing, wellbeing initiatives etc

1Ambassador for the YMCA

To act as an advocate and ambassador of the YMCA; promoting and exemplifying the YMCA’s core values, mission, vision, and ethos and to positively and proactively protect the YMCA’s reputation.

2 Other Duties

To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by your Line Manager or anyone else designated by the Chief Executive Officer, as necessary. To work in a flexible way to ensure that workload is completed and to undertake any other jobs commensurate with the seniority of the post.

3 Discretion to Act

To exercise discretion in the performance of the duties of the post, to use best practice and to ensure the effective and efficient use of resources.

Nothing in this Job Description is intended to authorise the post-holder to undertake responsibilities that belong properly to trustees and members of the Executive Management Team unless properly authorised to do so by the Chief Executive directly or through an appropriate manager.
