Job Title: Gymnastics Coach

Section: Club & Schools Coaching

Responsible to: Managing Director & Director of Education

Location :At the City of Preston Gymnastics & Performance Centre, Unit 2 Campbell St, Preston PR15LX and also based at local partner schools and community centres.

Job Purpose :

To assist with organising and delivering exciting and challenging gymnastics sessions predominantly at an introductory club gymnastics level and also in school settings. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high quality classes to gymnasts from preschool through to adults classes.

Key Duties / Responsibilities :

  • To assist in the planning, organising and delivery of a varied and interesting programme of recreational gymnastics, which motivates and encourages adults and young people to participate.
  • To support more advanced classes with the delivery of pre-determined gymnastics programmes for development groups and competition gymnasts. This will include preparing gymnasts for competitions and events choreographing routines and evaluating performances. (COPGC attend between 4-16 event dates per year)
  • To continually monitor and evaluate existing coaching programmes.
  • To adhere to risk assessments and ensure that reasonable steps have been taken to protect participants at all times by ensuring the effective supervision of gymnasts and undertaking effective dynamic risk assessment
  • Attend and support gymnasts to access key events and activities held at the gymnastics centre such as annual displays and in house competitions and also events/training held across the country and internationally as required.
  • To immediately report all accidents or injuries to a more senior coach and complete accident / incident report forms as required.
  • To maintain detailed and accurate records of attendance at classes and also record each gymnasts’ progression.
  • To assemble and dismantle equipment when required and to ensure the facility is always left tidy and safe.
  • To check the safety of all relevant equipment and ensure it is used in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • To report all damage to or loss of equipment and to report any damage to the building, fixtures and fittings to a more senior coach, Director or Gymnastics Centre Maintenance Officer.
  • To support and mentor volunteers and potential coaches.
  • To maintain relevant child protection and first aid qualifications.
  • To attend meetings when required.
  • Ensuring gymnast’s progression is up to date in progress booklets, online reports and online awards
  • To update the social media platforms with progress and communication to customers.
  • Ensuring school weekly reports are kept up to date to send to schools on a weekly basis
  • Updating online systems with weekly and termly reports on each individual class
  • Communicating with parents, teachers and coaches on a weekly basis within the lessons to ensure the lessons are of a high standard
  • To arrive early for class and when required take payments and support the running of reception
  • To support the continuous running of the facility and help out when required with basic maintenance, cleaning and tidying.
  • To safely open up and lock up the building, following the safe working procedures and ensure the facility is safely secured after sessions.
  • To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post.

Conditions of Service

Job Title: Gymnastics Coach

Responsible to: Managing Director & Director of Education

Salary: (Level 2 Coach)

£16,224 - £20,280 (this will be pro-rata to the number of hours worked) + Allowances will be paid as appropriate.

All coaches have the opportunity to work overtime and also pick up additional hours in out of term time camps and 121 private lessons to increase monthly wages.

All coaches receive a wage % increase each year.

Duration: 1 year contract, may be extended dependent on KPI outcomes

Working Hours:

There are 2 positions available:

Position 1 x 39 hours per week:

Monday 2pm– 8.45pm (6.25h paid)

Tuesday 3:45pm – 9.00pm (5.25h paid)

Wednesday 10:00am – 1pm & 4-9:30pm(8.5h paid)

Thursday 3:45-8:30pm (4.75h paid)

Friday 1:45-8:45pm (6.5h paid)

Saturday 11:45am-7:30pm(7.75h paid)

Position 2 x 32.5 hours per week

Friday 3:45-8:45pm (6h paid)

Saturday 8.30am – 5:30pm (9h paid)

Sunday 8:15am – 3:45pm (7.5h paid)

Monday 3:45-8:30pm (4.75h paid)

Tuesday 3:45-9pm(5.25h paid)

Annual Leave Entitlement:

You will be entitled to 27 days annual leave rising after years continuous service and eight public / bank holidays. The above entitlement will be calculated pro rata depending upon hours of work

Sickness Absence: This will be paid at basic levels.

Pension Provisions: For occupational pension purposes you will have the choice of:- a. Joining the Pension Scheme. b. Arranging your own personal pension provision approved by the Inland Revenue.

Business Mileage: If you have to use your own vehicle on business please ensure that you are insured to do so then the appropriate allowance is payable as per the national scheme.

Notice Period: Your notice period will be dependent upon the grade of the post and your continuous service.

Probation Period: New entrants to City of Preston Gymnastics & Performance Centre are subject to a probationary period of six months during which you are expected to establish your suitability to the post.

Medical Examination: Your employment is subject to the centre medical adviser giving medical clearance. Initially, this will take the form of a medical questionnaire.
