Job Title: General Manager
Reporting to:President, Board of Directors
Responsible for:- Head Ice Technician
- Junior Ice Staff
- Marketing Coordinator
- Bar Staff
- Vendor/Supplier Management
Hours of Work:A minimum of 40 hours / week averaged over a 49week year with approved statutory holidays.
The Dixie Curling Club is a member-driven fiscally responsible club striving to provide a social environment for all ages. A full-time ice maker and his staff professionally maintain the 6 sheets of ice and the club is staffed by knowledgeable, devoted people who have a passion for the sport. Leagues operate each day of the week and there are daytime and evening leagues to meet virtually any curler’s level of play and interest.
- Purpose of the Job:
To ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Dixie Curling Club while promoting and providing a venue for the sport of curling in Mississauga, Ontario, and surrounding areas.
- Major Responsibilities:
The General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operationof the curling club including ensuring quality and consistent ice surface and enriching the membership and visitor experience.The incumbent will establish and maintain positive working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff, contractors, vendors, club members and curlers, visitors and the community at large.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
-Perform administrative activities, including basic accounting and cash management
-Develop and implement all marketing programs for Club, designed to increase community awareness and club membership
-Manage staff (Ice, Bar, Marketing, other as required)
-Facility management including infrastructure systems and Cleaners
-Identify and implement health and safety requirements
-Facilitate special events and rentals
-Optimize Pro Shop offerings and profitability
-Represent the Club in a positive manner internally and externally
-Communicate and provide reports regularly and as required
- Skills and Attributes:
-Previous business management experience in a sports-related club or facility management
-Familiarity with the business of curling
-Marketing knowledge
-Understanding of core accounting principles
-Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Good computer skills (MS Office)
-Customer service orientation
-Strong interpersonal skills
-Proven management and leadership skills
-Demonstrates good judgment using available information
-Works well with minimal direction and positive results
