BACKGROUND
International Medical Corps UK delivers lifesaving health care in emergencies for people affected by disaster or conflict. No matter where, we are first there and we stay to help people survive and rebuild through the building blocks of recovery – water, food, safety, medicine. Finally, we help people stand on their own by passing on skills and knowledge locally through training.
International Medical Corps UK is currently looking for a finance assistant to work in our busy London office within the finance team. The role will providefinance support mainly to the finance team but could also support other teams varying administrative capacities when required.
KEY RESULTS AREAS (PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):
- Processing financial transactions through the accounting system with diligence
- Work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure smooth operation and compliance with organisation’s finance standards and deadlines.
- Maintaining accounting records, filing systemsand computer files
- Scanning finance documents and loading them into the share drive as required
- Prepare Bank reconciliations
- Handling, processing and reconciliation of petty cash, cash withdrawals and deposits
- Assist in preparing and reviewing all the supporting documents for the finance transactions to ensure full compliance with internal audit and company requirements,
- Plan, organise and manage own workload to ensure your contribution to the organisation’s monthly financial reporting process is achieved in a timely and accurate manner
- Communicate effectively and respond to queries from teams in London, Split and USA and external stakeholders
- Support the year endprocedure and preparation for external audit
- Processing accounts reconciliations
- Any other duties that may be deemed appropriate for this role
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential:
- Working towards a recognized Accountancy qualification and/or related Degree
- Experience using an accounting System such as Sun System or similar
- Relevant experience in an accounting function
- Proficient in computer skills particularly Microsoft Office, especially use of Excel
- Ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload and work to deadlines
- Ability to analyse and consolidate financial information
Desirable:
- Ability to produce and communicate clear financial reports as required
- Excellent team working skills as well as the ability to apply own initiative
- Ability to develop and enhance the existing financial systems and processes
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Commitment to the humanitarian/development sector
