Job Title:Mobile Night Care Worker – Extra Care Housing
Grade:£8.50 per hour
Job Purpose:
Community Night Care Workers are employed to work with tenants living in Extra Care Housing Provision to provide an out of hour’s care and support service.
The support required may be detailed in the service user plan provided for each tenant or the visit may be in an emergency situation. This will include assisting the tenant with personal care needs, prompting or administering medication or preparing a drink or a snack. Care workers must work as directed by the Manager and detailed in the individual service user plan if one is in place.
The aim of Community Night Team is to enable tenants to remain in their homes with as much independence as possible, carrying out the tasks in a professional, discreet and caring manner whilst respecting the tenants’ dignity, privacy, property and confidentiality.
Provide a service that meets the requirements of CQC, Company policies, procedures and guidelines.
Key Tasks, Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Respond to urgent/emergency calls during the night,on arrival at the property assessand recognise requirements of the individual, then provide an appropriate response in the form of advice, reassurance, physical support or the summoning of specialised assistance as necessary.
Support and assist the tenant in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and personal hygiene at all times and in a respectful and dignified manner. This could include assisting with toileting, washing and catheter care. Ensuring the toilet/commode etc are always clean.
Ensure the tenant is always comfortable, particularly if they require manual handling.
Enable mobility, tasks might include pushing wheelchair, checking of specialist equipment.
Ensure the health and safety of self and tenant whilst working, reporting any concerns immediately to the Manager.
Maintain record of all visits by logging the type of task, the date, time and the action taken in the log book provided.
Adhere to all statutory and company policies and procedures, including those relating to Quality, Confidentiality, and Health & Safety.

Maintain strict confidentiality of tenant’s circumstances.
Receive regular supervision, attend team meetings and undertake training as required, including qualifications, provide support to new colleague’s i.e.shadowing and basic instruction.
Undertake any other reasonable task as directed by the management team.
Ensure the appropriate use and maintenance and storage of moving and handling equipment.
Work nights on a rotational rota to cover the service.
Provide continuity of service at shift hand-over time, by advising staff of any specific requirements for follow-up action.
Work in accordance with hours of service determined by the management team.
Maintain the security of the buildings and individual homes.
Provide assistance when required to other workers ie: Concierge
Work in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organisation and relevant legislation including confidentiality and Health and Safety policy guidelines.
Ensure personal safety and safeguard the welfare of your colleagues.
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the purpose of the post required by the organisation.
To be familiar with customer care and ensure that the organisations policies and procedures relevant to this are adhered to.

WORKING CONDITIONS
MioCare Group operates a no smoking policy all staff are required to comply with this policy.
These hours will be worked according to the needs of the service and will involve working on variable night shifts to cover a 24/7 service. There will be occasions when you will be required to alter your work day at short notice to cover for sickness, annual leave or other eventualities.

MioCare Group CIC

The MioCare Group comprises Oldham Care and Support and MioCare Services. The group was established in October 2013 by Oldham Council with the overarching aim of making sure the people of Oldham can continue to access excellent social care and support services when they need them.

It is intended that over time the group will grow to establish other public service companies which have the potential to bring in new forms of income and operate as viable and sustainable social purpose businesses.

The group is owned by the Council and has a single board which governs the group. The Board comprises four shareholder representatives, all of whom are elected members (Councillors), nominated by the Council, two independent non-executives and the Managing Director. The Council have also appointed the Executive Director of Health and Wellbeing to act as an advisor to the Board.

Oldham Care and Support (OCS)– OCS is comprised of the services which were provided internally by the council prior to the companies being established. The company currently employs circa 400 staff, the majority of which are care and support workers. A service level agreement is in place between OCS and Oldham Council for the delivery of services.

MioCare Services (MSL) – MSL is a start-up company which has entered new markets which the previous in-house service was unable to enter.MSL is able to compete in the market and to date has been successful in entering into the Home Care, Extra Care, PA and day care markets.
