Salary: £26,000 – £29,000

25 days annual leave per year and additional staff benefits

Hours: 35 hour per week.(Occasional weekend and evening hours will be necessary to fulfil the role, in connection withfundraising events, travel etc, and will be compensated with time off in lieu)

Purpose of job

The Events and Community Fundraising Officerisan essential role within Feed the Minds overall Strategy for Growth over the next 3 years. The job holder will have the opportunity to grow the events programme, buildrelationships with high value donors, and support community groups in the planning and delivery of new ideas and approaches.

Role Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the Director of Fundraising and Communications, you will agree targets associated with events, high value donors and community fundraising income; and achieve these targets within the deadlines and budgets set
  • Access new areas for community engagement, with a key focus on online and digital, whist maintaining and increasing support from our existing and committed donor base
  • Develop and deliver a series of income generating events that raise both income and profile of the organisation
  • Develop and produce materials and campaigns, supported by the wider team, aimed at specific groups including churches, individuals and new regional groups
  • Secure sponsorship for community and national events
  • Build long-term supporter relationships through face-to-face, telephone, off-line and on-line communications. This includes providing support and training for volunteers
  • Represent Feed the Minds at events including festivals, coffee mornings or church events (a number of these will take place during evenings or at the weekend, but TOIL is offered as compensation)
  • Monitor and report against agreed work plan and targets
  • Use Raiser’s Edge to record and monitoring all activities related to your role
  • Contribute to the wider Feed the Minds’ team’s work and development
  • Undertake any other work that is required by the Fundraising and Communications Director or the Director of Feed the Minds

Person Specification

Experience

  • Ideally 2 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably with a strong events or community fundraising background – experience in other areas will also be strongly consdiered
  • Strong track record ofmeeting and exceeding both financial and non–financial targets
  • Experience working with volunteers or in a volunteering environment
  • Basic budget and financial management experience
  • Proven ability to use a range of communications methods and tools

Education / knowledge

  • Preferably educated to degree level or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of the principles of good supporter care and generating income from community sources
  • Solid understandingof the principles of relationship building and solicitation
  • Excellent understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Understanding of The Raiser’s Edge databaseis desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of Institute of Fundraising (IOF) codes of practice
  • Experience and knowledge of international development (desirable)
