Job Title:Director, Impact and Learning

JOB PURPOSE:

Drive the charity’s approach to all of its performance measurement and improvement activity, from day to day monitoring and reporting on performance through in-depth research and evaluation of our work and how we can continuously improve.

Lead efforts to reflect the many and diverse communities the charity services and to become a genuinely learning organisation.

Budgetary responsibilities

Responsible for the effective management of a total revenue expenditure budget in excess of £750k.

Key working relationships:

Internal contacts: Board of Trustees, Corporate Leadership Team, Corporate Leadership Group, teams across the charity.

External contacts: Leaders from the public and private sector

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership

  1. To be an active, effective and accountable member of the Corporate Leadership Group, exhibiting strong corporate leadership, leading by example and upholding the principles of the Leadership and Management Behaviours.
  1. Provide leadership, communications and action, which will exemplify the charity’s Basis and Values, sense of purpose and commitment to ensure equality of opportunity and inclusion.
  1. Work collaboratively with senior colleagues across the charity to deliver the Corporate Strategy.
  1. Take a lead role in implementing significant change programmes using skills and experience to win hearts and minds and ensure transitions are implemented with maximum efficiency and minimum disruption to business provision.
  1. Ensure that direct reports are prepared to enable the CLT and Trustee Board to fulfil their governance responsibilities.
  1. To work collaboratively with senior colleagues in other Departments to collectively deliver on our strategic and operational goals.
  1. To protect and enhance the charity’s reputation against its purpose and mission.
  1. To lead a diverse, multi-disciplinary range of teams, bringing coherence, cohesion and delivering against demanding objectives.

  1. Drive our work to improve the management of programmes and projects and build capability within Barnardo’s, including reporting on major projects and the co-ordination and management of change associated with the 10 year corporate strategy.
  1. Work collaboratively across the charity to ensure that the 10 year corporate strategy is fully implemented across the UK and the impact of our work demonstrated through outcomes and performance indicators.

  • Requirement to attend/represent Barnardo’s at meetings and events outside of normal working hours.
