Job Purpose:

To work closely with the Chief Executive to support organisational management, research activities and service development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Research, development and revision of resources, courses and programmes
  2. Support for HENRY service evaluations and research papers
  3. ‘Organisational enabler’: coordination of management systems, information and internal communication
  4. PA to Chief Executive
  5. Delivery of HENRY practitioner training courses
  1. Research, development and revision of resources, courses and programmes
  • Carry out research and literature reviews to support the development of new materials and interventions
  • Work closely with HENRY project managers to determine service requirements and collaborate on design of new courses, programmes and resources
  • Devise and write new courses, interventions and materials in accordance with HENRY branding and style
  • Pilot new courses and interventions for wider roll-out and train others to deliver them
  • Review and revise courses, programmes and resources on a 3-year cycle to ensure they reflect up-to-date research and nutritional/lifestyle advice and are consistent with other internal changes to HENRY materials
  • Consult with other HENRY staff, trainers, facilitators, practitioners, volunteers and parents about changes needed
  1. Support for HENRY service evaluations and research papers
  • Work closely with academic partners to provide data collected by HENRY and develop evaluation tools
  • Share existing and developing methodology, measures and expertise across studies
  • Coordinate HENRY’s Academic Advisory Panel, recruiting new members as required, arranging and minuting meetings, and supporting agreed action
  • Contribute to the preparation of papers for publication, working closely with external investigators
  • Ensure the timely delivery of evaluation projects according to agreed milestones
  • Work closely with the Chief Executive to identify gaps and opportunities to strengthen HENRY’s evidence base
  1. ‘Organisational enabler’: coordination of management systems, information and internal communication
  • Work closely with the Chief Executive and senior colleagues to develop, implement and monitor organisational business plans
  • Promote effective internal communication and consultation, ensuring the timely implementation of planningprocesses to support team working
  • Collate and analyse data and prepare reports
  1. PA to Chief Executive
  • Manage the Chief Executive’s diary, including booking meetings, travel arrangements and providing relevant information in advance of meetings
  • Arrange Board meetings and Annual General Meetings, booking dates, venues and rail tickets as required
  • Work with the Chief Executive to arrange and prepare papers for Board and Senior Management Team meetings
  • Attend and minute Board, Senior Management Team and other meetings, writing up and circulating written minutes promptly
  • Support Trustee recruitment as required
  • Liaise with Trustees, responding to requests for information
  • Respond to enquiries in the absence of the Chief Executive
  1. Delivery of HENRY practitioner training courses
  • Plan, prepare and liaise with co-trainer to deliver HENRY courses to practitioners in local areas
  • Deliver courses in accordance with the training handbook, modelling the HENRY approach and skills
  • Debrief and share feedback with co-trainer at the end of each training as part of a continuous system of trainer development and quality improvement
  • Complete course paperwork in a timely and organised manner
  • Support own development as a trainer through on-going reading, research and supervision

Person specification

Essential / Desirable
Qualifications / Graduate level education or equivalent
Driving licence
Experience / Delivering experiential and interactive training courses or workshops
Researching, developing and writing courses, training materials and/or reports
Working within a team
At least three years’ proven administrative experience in an office environment
Project coordination or management / Direct work with parents or families
Data analysis or research projects
Knowledge / Values and principles of working in partnership with service users
Organisational management and planning processes and tools
Advanced level Microsoft Office – in particular Word and Excel / Working knowledge of health and early years services
Healthy lifestyle and obesity prevention
Skills and attitudes / Strong motivation to contribute to HENRY’s work
Excellent training and relationship-building skills
Ability to write detailed, clear and user-friendly training manuals and materials
Ability to analyse and present data clearly and write reports
Strong organisational skills, able to work on own initiative and meet deadlines
Team player with a desire to help others to reach shared goals
Ability to take the initiative, not only in identifying problems but also in suggesting and implementing solutions
An eye for detail and a concern for accuracy, together with the ability to keep sight of the broad picture
Willingness to undertake training
