Job Title:DEvelopment Coordinator (Kingswood)

Hours:24hours/weeK

Salary:£25,687 (Scale Point 3.0)

key responsibilities

  • To maintain an overview of activity across all sites of the Kingswood Estate ensuring the sites function well for tenants, hirers and users.
  • To work with the Estates Manager to ensure safe and practical equality of access to services for all staff, tenants, users and stakeholders.
  • To support the operational development of the partnership with Circomedia in liaison with the Estates Director and CEO
  • To build links with relevant organisations, individuals and neighbours to develop local service delivery with other tenants and the community and to bring in new business to the sites of the Kingswood Estate.
  • To manage any delegated income and expenditure budgets whilst maximising potential within the aims and objectives of CYN.
  • To support the fundraising team in identifying sources of income to support development of delivery at the Kingswood Estate
  • To contribute to recruitment, induction and training of staff working at the Kingswood Estate sites.
  • To line manage and provide training and support for the Centre Assistant
  • To oversee the work of the Centre Assistant in the provision of:
  • a friendly and efficient reception service, ensuring cover is provided when appropriate using available resources
  • good internal communication between staff teams, tenants and users,
  • an annual tenant satisfaction survey
  • excellent customer service for current and potential tenants and hirers,
  • developing and maintaining robust and efficient office systems and managing room and studio bookings
  • If cleaning remains in-house - To ensure the effectiveness of all cleaning services. Providing line management and work planning support for the cleaners to ensure good service at all Kingswood site premises and at Hanham. Including monthly 121's and annual appraisals. Alternatively to oversee any cleaning contracts.
  • To work with marketing to promote The Creative Youth Network and its facilities to the wider community

Work demands

  • The postholder has significant influence over the running and direction of a project/work area and contributes to the overall development of the work of the organisation
  • Tasks are varied but mainly of a complex nature requiring a high level of autonomy, judgement, decision making and direction of more junior employees within the work area.
  • The job holder contributes significantly to the development of the project/work area in which they specialise, initiating new ideas and promoting the work of the project/work area outside the organisation
  • There is regular contact with external organisations and significant partnership working

Expertise:

  • The post requires a thorough knowledge of the subject area which may well be in a specialist area and previous relevant experience is also required
  • A good standard of education and/or a professional qualification would be an advantage or is some cases is required

  • Direct or significant indirect responsibility for the physical, mental and social well being of users, working with a high level of autonomy

  • Responsible for expenditure for a specific project/work area under the guidance of a line manager
  • Contributes to the overall safe keeping of physical resources within a project/work area
  • Contributes to securing income for the organisation

REsponsibility for Employees,trainees and volunteers

The postholder is:

  • Responsible for the satisfactory work performance, including training and guidance and allocation of work of up to 4 volunteers, trainees and employees

Mental Effort

  • The job requires a regular level of mental effort.
  • The jobholder is required to keep records, analyse simple data and independently produce occasional reports or other documentation.

physical effort

  • The job requires occasional physical effort on an ad-hoc basis

working conditions

  • The job involves the occasional exposure to work with challenging users and/or the occasional requirement to work unsocial hours

Terms and conditions

  • The role will be based at Kingswood
  • Hours will normally be 9.15am to 5.15pm Monday to Friday but this may vary according to operational needs
  • The postholder will adhere to all CYN work and equal opportunities policies.
  • The post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
  • 25 days of holiday per year excluding 8 bank holidays pro rata.
  • Probationary period of three months

Essential Skills and Abilities:

Experience:

•Experience of community and neighbourhood development, networking and service delivery

•Experience of planning and supporting projects with partner organisations

•Experience of promotion and publicity

•3 years experience of managing staff or volunteers

•3 years community development experience

•Experience of managing budgets and achieving income targets

Desirable:

•Working within the social enterprise/charitable sector

•An understanding of requirements for small fundraising bids

•Good knowledge of the Kingwood Estate areas
