Job Summary

This position is responsible for maintaining accurate records of all inventories. Verifies all orders received and shipped and ensures that the orders are properly accounted for in the company’s records. Accounts for all defective or damaged products and follows with appropriate corrective action. Manages and reconciles all cycle counts. Manage and implement the placement of product throughout the warehouse.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

Inventory Control:

  • Manage all aspects of Inventory control; ensure compliance of established standards and timely maintenance of product with results that are accurate and thorough.
  • Review daily reports, identify and address issues requiring immediate attention, such as weight comparisons, mis-rotated slots, expiration problems, slot count differences, etc.
  • Oversee and coordinate the daily cycle counting of product. Ensure initial recheck audit is completed and discrepancies are corrected and/or reported for further follow-up.
  • Administer and provide follow-up for warehouse transfers, recalls, vendor returns and department transfers.
  • Ensure daily/weekly counts of perishable items such as meat and dairy are completed in a timely manner. Make certain audits include verification of expiration dates, counts, product condition and quality. Communicate issues with buyers.
  • Administer store returns, store credits, accounts payable corrections and transfers. Verify provided data; research and identify errors such as mis-picks, overages, purchase order errors, receiving documents, etc. Ensure corrections are documented and updated appropriately.
  • Interview, hire and directly supervise employees assigned to Inventory Control. Schedule staff to support all shifts. Assess relevant training needs for individuals, coach and develop as necessary. Document substandard performance and take corrective action including formal discipline, and termination when necessary.
  • Review the rotation of product regularly; adjust placement and/or location as necessary.
  • Direct the Recoup department’s processing of spoiled or damaged product and store returns. Ensure documentation is provided for food bank contributions, destruction of product or reclamation center shipments. Verify system adjustments and paperwork are accurate and input in a timely manner.
  • Participate and provide documentation for audits conducted by outside contractors, ie: an auditing firms and/or inspections conducted by Local, State or Federal organizations, as needed.
  • Oversee and monitor the auditing of seasonal product ensuring it is processed and distributed in a timely manner.

Slot Control:

  • Manage and implement product placement within warehouse; ensure cube breaks, crushability, measurement, weight, type, retention, store layout, etc are considered.
  • Make slot adjustments for new item launches, vendor changes, discontinued items and/or warehouse issues. Work in conjunction with warehouse operations for implementation of slot reassignments, product movement and system updates.
  • Analyze the relativity of product/ sale changes with the slot placement of product regularly, ensuring the integrity of the slotting system is maintained. Maintain an open line of communication with the buyers.
  • Forecast and prepare for the arrival of seasonal product, ensure slot availability is maintained. Work closely with the inventory team throughout the distribution of product; physically verify slot is empty prior to closing out a slot for discontinuance of an item.
  • Administer the coordination between the store layout and warehouse layout of product resulting in a more efficient distribution and stocking of product upon arrival to the store.
  • Performs other projects and duties as needed and assigned.

Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • Demonstrating self-direction, dependability, initiative and excellent time management skills.
  • Interpreting and applying the Collective bargaining agreement and company working condition and wage agreement with employees and daily operation appropriately.
  • Communicating utilizing excellent verbal, written and inter-personal communication skills.

  • Demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail in order to effectively monitor progress and complete assignments.

Ability to:

  • Apply WinCo company personnel policies as the established guideline to be adhered and followed by all employees.
  • Work graveyard / overnight and weekend schedules as required depending on project needs.
  • Obtain necessary certification to safely and efficiently operate required equipment including powered industrial forklifts and electric pallet jacks.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, bend at waist and twist upper body frequently, repetitive use of hands continually.
