JOB TITLE: Compliance Specialist

JOB SUMMARY

The Compliance Specialist (CS) serves as the supervisor for all Securities and Retirement Plans to ensure that all documentation is compliant with AIC guidelines and ERISA. The CS provides compliance support for the entire organization in this capacity. The CS will work primarily with the Financial Services and Retirement Division.

RETIREMENT PLANS PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

·  Fiduciary Reviews – at the beginning of each calendar year, the 401 (K) advisors and the CS meet to discuss important topics to be included in the agenda for each plan’s fiduciary meeting. After the review, the CS will prepare any updates to the contract form for changes in investment options and prepare a notice for the plan sponsor to distribute to plan participants regarding the changes.

·  Fiduciary Review Meetings – on occasion the CS will be asked to attend the fiduciary meetings to provide compliance support.

·  Fiduciary Agendas – the CS prepares the agenda and all relevant handouts for the Advisor’s meetings.

·  Individual Participant Meetings – the CS will print out the information needed for each participant signed up for a meeting time, including updating the style box for the most current returns.

·  Participant Education Meetings – the CS will prepare any handouts and update the information on the power point as requested by the Advisor.

·  Quarterly Email – the CS prepares a quarterly email that is distributed to all retirement plan clients reminding them of the fiduciary responsibility to review the plan’s investment funds on a quarterly basis.

·  Regulatory and Current Practices on Retirement plans - The CS will review daily emails from vendor sources to stay up to date on changes that affect our retirement plan clients. The CS will update Advisors on the changes.

·  Education Articles – the CS will provide retirement plan sponsors with short articles to include in their employee newsletters.

·  Maintain a Database - this will be used for the CS and Advisors to log the number of hours of service per client and to house important ongoing information for each client.

·  Telephone Calls and Emails – CS will answer questions for plan sponsors, plan participants and vendors either direct call or email as requested by the Advisor.

·  Request for Proposals – CS will contact vendors to provide information for vendor comparisons of retirement plan services and investment modeling. Upon receipt of information, the CS will provide worksheets outlining the comparisons.

·  Webcasts/Continuing Education – CS will monitor available webcasts for updates on current topics of interest. The CS will also attend at least one Plan Advisor meeting to obtain CE hours and attend any relevant sessions.

·  Vendor Websites – the CS will stay current on vendor websites with ongoing changes and will provide assistance with navigation of the sites to plan sponsors and plan participants.

SECURITIES SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

·  Monthly account review (Proprietary IAR managed accounts)

·  Third-party variable annuity principal review

·  ALIC variable insurance principal review

·  Options and municipal trade review

·  RIA account acceptance (agreements) and client invoices

·  Review RR monthly blotters and other record submissions

·  Exception oversight

·  Alternative investment principal review

·  Municipal security transactions (time-of-trade disclosures)

·  Outside business activity approval

·  Sales presentation oversight

·  Training of associated persons

·  Ensure RRs meet AIC compliance and policy requirements

·  RR/IAR account periodic suitability review

·  Follow-up on surveillance review items, office inspections and regulatory matters

·  Approval of RRs/IARs

·  Approval of IAR discretionary authority

·  Forward exception requests

REQUIREMENTS

Educations: High School Diploma required; Bachelors or Associate degree preferred.

Experience: Five years of experience in the financial services industry.

Licensure: Must be willing to obtain the following licenses within one year from date of hire; series 7, 24, 53, 63 and 65.
