Job title: Centre Weekend Worker

Reporting to:Area Manager, Deputy Manager

Location: Bedford

Salary: £14,800 - £18,050 pro rata

Working Hours:10 hrs a week: Saturday & Sunday 8- 1pm

Main purpose of the job

Ensure the provision of high quality treatment services through:

  • Providing support to the Service Users accessing the centre
  • Establishing strong working relationships with Service Users

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the post-holder are divided into 2 key areas of work:

1.Service User and centre Support

  • Man the reception area and be the welcoming face of the Centre
  • Carry out centre operations
  • Carrying out screening assessments, identifying priorities, where necessary
  • Responding to need as it arises and managing client crisis as it presents

2.Staff support

This post holder will be required to support team members; this will include:

  • Respecting each others rights and conducting oneself in a professional manner at all times
  • Contributing to the support of colleagues and reflecting on issues that have the potential to impact on the team and individuals
  • Sharing knowledge to enhance the performance of the team
  • Make appropriate referrals to other agencies as appropriate
  • Carry out duties of the post in accordance with SMART’s Diversity and Equal Opportunities Policy.

  • To carry out any other duties and responsibilities as required in line with operational needs.
  • To ensure confidentiality and Integrity are key at all times whist carrying out the role

Person Specification- Housing Support Worker

All staff are expected to show commitment to the quality of service offered to service users and to demonstrate a thoughtful and considered approach to their problems. Honesty, reliability, use of initiative and the ability to establish good working relationships with clients and colleagues are also essential attributes.

Essential

  • Willingness to receive training and to learn
  • Ability to engage with clients and develop constructive working relationships
  • Good Communication Skills based on an empathic approach
  • Good written skills in relation to case notes, emails and basic reports
  • Good relationship and liaison skills in working with colleagues and partners
  • Awareness of and ability to manage boundary issues involved in working with this client group
  • Ability to work under pressure in a potentially stressful environment and deal with challenging behaviours and situations
  • Good IT skills
  • Ability to organise tasks and work to deadlines

Desirable

  • Housing and/ or benefit knowledge/ qualification
  • Knowledge of harm reduction advice.
  • Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing techniques
  • Good working knowledge of electronic case management systems
  • Driving licence and use of own car
  • Can speak Polish/ Lithuanian/ Latvian/ Russian

Appointment will depend on satisfactory references being obtained from present or past employers. Enhanced DBS and enhanced Thames Valley Police Security Clearance.
