Job Title:Bridging to Change Children and Young People’s Sessional Support worker
Salary:£13.19 per hour
Hours: 6 hours per week
Location: Role is based across Greater Manchester with specific programme delivery in Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside and Trafford. Full driving licence and use of a car is desirable.

Job Purpose:Develop and organise the delivery of peer support and positive activities for children and young people who may have witnessed/experienced domestic abuse. Service is open to children and young people whose families are already accessing support through Bridging to Change Domestic Abuse Services

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the delivery of weekly peer support sessions which will include positive activities for children and young people accessing the programme.
- Attend and contribute to TLC: Talk, Listen, Change Team Meetings as needed.
- Attend individual supervision and line management on a regular basis
- To provide day to day support, advice and back up to other workers and/or volunteers
- Contribute to group work planning sessions
- Complete appropriate paperwork with and on behalf of children and young people, including the use of session evaluation forms.
- Perform any other duties within the scope of this job profile or as reasonably required by the Children and Young People’s Service Lead.
- Deal with confidential information and ensure all records and files are kept up to date
- Commit to continuous professional development through engagement in the TLC: Talk, Listen, Changeannual training plan and other specific courses agreed with Service Lead.

- Working hours may be subject to alteration at any time and adjustments to location may alter subject to demand
- Working hours may include evenings, weekends and twilight hours
- The post holder is expected to comply with all relevant TLC: Talk, Listen, Change policies, procedures and guidelines including those relating to Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Confidentiality and Safeguarding
- Successful candidates will be DBS checked
- Staff are subject to a 6 month probationary period
- Funding for this post has been secured through BBC Children in Need, until end of October 2018
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
Experience:
- Experience of delivering high quality group work sessions
- Experience working with children and young people in group work settings
- Comprehensive safeguarding and child protection knowledge
Skills and understanding:
- A good team player
- A high level of written and oral communication
- Can work to direction and meet agreed objectives and deadlines but also enjoys working under own initiative.
- An understanding of the nature of domestic abuse and its effects on women and children
Desirable Requirements:
Experience:
- Experience of working within the Domestic Abuse Sector
- Experience working in a multi-agency setting
- Experience of working with families with complex needs
- Experience of developing and organising group work
- Experience delivering research informed interventions
- Knowledge of the range of statutory and voluntary agencies with which women and children may come into contact when experiencing domestic abuse
- An understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on children and parenting
Other:
