JOB TITLE: BREAKFAST CLUB ASSISTANT

GRADE: H1

Responsible to:Headteacher

1.Purpose of your job.

To ensure the safety, welfare and happiness of all pupils during the Breakfast Club.

To to take an interest in the children, to be positive and to treat all children fairly and equally.

2.Main areas of responsibility.

To supervise pupils in Breakfast Club and to ensure their safety and welfare in accordance with instructions from the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher.

To encourage good eating habits and socially acceptable behaviour in the hall and encourage independence in all children.

To clear any foodleft on the tables, wiping the tables and sweeping up food or spillages on the floor.To ensure hall is left tidy and ready for other users.

To encourage playtime activities that are stimulating and fun, to teach children to play games and join in with them whenever possible.

To ensure that all pupils return to the care of teaching or support staff at the end of Breakfast Club. To liaise with other members of the school's teaching and support staff, as appropriate.

4.SUPERVISION

Supervised on a daily basis either by the Breakfast Club Leader.

5.JOB CONTEXT

Working with the Breakfast Club Leader to ensure that the club starts and finishes on time. Ensuring that pupils have breakfast and supervising them for the remainder of the time.

7.KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

  • Experience of working in an environment where there are children and young people would be desirable but not necessary
  • Knowledge of basic hygiene procedures/first aid knowledge.

8.PROBLEMS AND DECISIONS

  • Any Challenging behaviour from pupils during Breakfast Club should be reported to the classteacher and/or Head/Deputy if appropriate.
  • Occasionally a child may feel unwell. This should be reported to the relevant staff if necessary.

9.PHYSICAL EFFORT

Organising and playing games with children. Moving and carrying dining tables and chairs at the beginning and end of Breakfast Club.

10.WORKING ENVIRONMENT

There are no really hazardous conditions.

It is not always possible to define completely the duties and responsibilities attached to posts and some variations may be necessary from time to time.
