Job Purpose and Main Aims

To provide an effective human resource advisory service to BPL, ensuring we comply with all relevant employment legislation and adopt a culture of best practice approach to human resource matters.
To assist the Human Resource Manager in identifying new opportunities for human resource / workforce development projects and partnerships to assist in meeting BPL’s Strategic Aims.
To be a pro-active member of BPL’s working groups and provide support, advice and guidance to BPL’s management teams as required.
To ensure BPLs core values are lived throughout all employees within the roles area of responsibility.
Ensure that as the Human Resources Advisor you provide a support service that meets the needs of all employees of BPL.
Provide support and guidance to managers and employees highlighting the importance of BPL core values through the recruitment process and as they begin their employment and throughout their career.
To engage and support managers to ensure that they have employees that meet the needs of our business and have the traits of all our core values.
To assist the Human Resources Manager in the management of absence, considering the impact absence has on the business and to look at ways of managing key performance indicators to ensure that we maintain appropriate levels with support from external agencies such as Occupational Health.
To assist the Human Resources Manager in looking at ways to reduce cost in areas such as recruitment and selection, absence management, payroll and any other areas as directed my management.
To deliver targets and Key Performance Indicators as required by the role.
To consider opportunity for workforce development through partnerships and networking.

Role Specifics & Responsibilities

To assist in the effective day-to-day management of all human resources activities.
To monitor for changes in legislation and regulations and provide advice to BPL’s management teams including updating policies and procedures.
To identify new opportunities for human resource / workforce development projects and partnerships that will enable BPL to meet its Strategic Aims.
At all times, comply with policies and procedures of BPL.
To represent BPL at meetings, events and conferences.
To assist in ensuring that the human resources department provides a professional and effective service in all aspects of human resource management including recruitment and selection, disciplinary, capability and grievance, re-structuring and contractual terms and conditions.
To provide expert support and advice to managers on human resource matters as required.
To act as an Ambassador for BPL at all time, supporting and promoting BPL Strategic aims and core values.
To assist the Human Resource Manager in providing a professional and effective service in all aspects of absence management.
To assist on the production and implementation of new and/or updated policies and procedures including the consultation with staff and managers.
To assist the Human Resources department in maintaining appropriate personnel and payroll databases in assist in the evaluating and reporting upon agreed performance indicators.
To deliver targets and achieve key performance indicators agreed as part of the posts holders’ personal management plan.
To assist in developing partnerships in order to provide new and sustainable opportunities for workforce development.
To assist in the delivery of such projects from conception to completion and ensure targets are achieved.

POSITION:Human Resources Advisor – BPL

Information to Candidates on Employment Terms and Conditions

The following details outlining some of the main Terms and Conditions of Employment are for information only. They do not constitute a contractual agreement. A full Contract of Employment will be issued to the successful applicant on appointment.

1.Working Hours

The normal hours of work will be 24 hours per week, to be worked to suit the needs of the service which may include evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays

2.HolidaysThere are 20 days annual leave from 1 April to 31 March each year plus 8 Bank Holidays (pro rata for part-time staff). Staff appointed part way through a holiday year will receive a proportionate entitlement.

3.Salary

The rate of pay will be up to £15,017 per annum.

4.Pension

There is eligibility to join the BPL Friends Life Pension Scheme.

5.Probationary Period

All new appointments are subject to a probationary period of 6 months during which time suitability for the position appointed will be assessed.

6.Notice Period

The notice period that will operate on both sides to terminate the Contract will be one month or, on the employer side, one week for every year of service (to a maximum of 12 weeks) if this is greater.

7.Appointment

Appointments made are subject to satisfactory to the employer of a health clearance, and two references.
