OBJECTIVES
PURPOSE OF JOB / This autonomous role within Rayner involves all aspects of clinical research, product training and medical communications - critical to the company as we strive to providing the best IOLs for clinicians and patients. You will be responsible for all aspects of the clinical programmes within the business; with the primary focus on Investigator Initiated Sponsored Research (IISR) to support the sales cycle of new products through a faster creation of clinical studies. You will also be responsible for the external and internal training programmes to support current and new products - utilising the clinical data generated to support the training programmes. You will tailor and implement the training programmes for audiences; direct sales teams, distributors and surgeons – utilising our new Training Centre of Excellence in Worthing. You will also develop the Key Opinion Leader programme, building this into the clinical programme strategy.
The role, reporting to the Head of Marketing, will involve significant internal and external communication; interacting with all departments within Rayner’s head office in Worthing and our other global offices, in addition to healthcare professionals and academics all over the world. A thorough understanding of clinical research, preferably in ophthalmology, along with an understanding of medical device regulations is therefore desirable in order to develop clinical evidence to support Rayner products worldwide.
This will be a busy and demanding role based in the global headquarters in Worthing with some international travel (around 10% of your time). KEY ACTIVITIES
RESPONSIBILITIES /
  • Development of global clinical studies primarily through IISR programmes
  • Development of the KOL programme initiative
  • Development of global training programmes
  • Planning and Coordination of Clinical Studies and pre-market studies for new products
  • Planning and Coordination of an annual activities/courses in the Centre of Excellence
  • Identify new opportunities in IOL design and innovation and undertake feasibility studies
  • Work with the Marketing Communications Manager to develop medical communications
  • Work with Head of Marketing to ensure budgets are in line with the business strategy
  • Build effective working relationships with R&D and QARA departments in order to facilitate new product development

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

QUALIFICATIONS/ TRAINING / Essential:
  • Degree in Science / Optometry / Engineering or equivalent professional experience
Desirable:
  • Post Graduate Qualification in Optometry equivalent professional experience

EXPERIENCE
(E.g. health care industry, multinational company, what level/types of roles etc.) / Essential:
  • Experience working in Optometry/ophthalmology
Desirable:
  • Experience in Clinical studies and Clinical Data
  • Language: English, 2nd language preferred
  • Understanding of medical device regulations
  • Product Marketing experience
