POSITION: Alternative Education/Virtual Teacher (Non-Union)
Secondary Endorsement required in Math/Science
BUILDING: Greyhound Central Performance Academy
STARTING DATE: January 18, 2016
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must meet NCLB requirements of Certified & Highly Qualified to teach middle school/secondary Science & Math (endorsed in both math and science for secondary) and English as a Second Language (NS) endorsement preferred.
· Should have experience with and/or ability to handle a mixed-mode or “hybrid” teaching classroom environment
· Must be interested in working in a collaborative teaching environment
· Experience in Alternative Education and/or Adult Education is preferred, but not mandatory
· Must possess a PASSION for an alternative learning environment and the students involved
· Must possess the ability to creatively handle a variety of unique behaviors and remain level-headed
· Need to have a working knowledge of computer software and how computers function
· Experience with online curriculum programs such as Gradpoint and Odysseyware is helpful, but not mandatory
· Mush be flexible in teaching schedule (may have to start late/end late on occasion)
· Will be responsible for these classes/courses: Algebra 1 & 2; Geometry; Probability & Statistics; Pre-Calculus; Calculus; Biology; Physical Science; Physics; Earth Science; Environmental Science and possibly others
· Must be willing to serve as a mentor teacher for virtual students (which requires weekly check ins and grade monitoring of approximately 5-15 additional students)
Additional Attributes, but not required:
· Special Education Endorsement and/or experience with special needs students extremely helpful
· English as a Second language endorsement and/ or experience helpful
