Dear Mr. Smith:
My resume is attached in response to your advertisement for an assistant editor. Your description of the ideal candidate is exciting because I believe my experience and skills closely match what you seek.
I’ve worked the past two years as an editorial assistant at 123 Magazines. We have a small staff and, as a result, I’ve pitched in on more projects than the job might otherwise allow in a larger company. Each day is different but usually includes core administrative work as well as writing and copyediting stories for print and online. Strong attention to detail is required as is a flexible attitude and ability to meet deadlines. These skills I can bring to the assistant editor job, and more. I’m well versed in SEO and have strong knowledge of social media platforms. I also use WordPress and other content management systems regularly, so you’ll be saving time and energy there on training.
Your upcoming launch of the new magazine The Real Long Island also piqued my interest. FOLIO mentioned this launch last month and I just read the update about it in your Web site’s press section. I grew up on Long Island and still enjoy exploring its beaches, parks, and historical sites. I’m always interested in digging deeper and learning more, and it would be a real pleasure to contribute to this publication in whatever way is most helpful.
It would be great to meet with you to discuss the position. If you’d like to schedule an interview, you can reach me at (212) 896-3633, or at . Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Janice Doe
