Insect bites, bee stings and snake bites | First aid kit, 8" top boots, long sleeve shirt,

Lightning | Stay away from open exposures, ridge tops, tall lone

| trees, rock outcrops, turn radio off.

Heat exhaustion and sunburn | Carry and drink plenty of water, use sun block, carry

| first aid kit, use long sleeve shirt, hard hat

|

Hypothermia-frost bite | Use proper clothing for weather conditions, fitness,

| portable radio, first aid kit, fire starting equip.

|

Cuts, sprains, strains from equipment use | Common sense, awareness of tape and other sharp edges,

| control rewind tension, cover hatchet head, don't

| carry too much equipment, use vest to distribute load,

| gloves and safety goggles optional.

|

Winter travel | Use 4-wheel drive or chains before you're in trouble,

| reduce speed to fit conditions, extra food & clothing.

|

Using map machine | Training in proper use and settings on machine, care

| in handling large sheets of paper or mylar, proper use

| of paper cutter.

| Be aware of fumes from the chemicals. See MSDS for
