DESCRIPTION

This is work operating washing machines, presses and related laundry equipment; sorting and folding laundry; preparing and serving food and cleaning to maintain sanitary conditions; and/or laying out patterns and cutting and sewing clothing and household articles.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

Loads and operates industrial-type washing machines, extractors, and dryers.

Measures detergents, weighs clothes and controls water supply.

Operates dryers, presses, flatwork ironers, and automatic folders.

Sorts, shakes, and marks laundry for washing; and assembles laundry after washing and hand folds.

Operates flatwork ironers, pants and shirt presses, automatic folders, and dryers.

Dry cleans and presses wools, silks, and similar garments.

Prepares foods such as salads, may open large quantities of canned foods and warm for serving, and serve food.

Receives, counts, and dispatches soiled linen to the laundry and clean linens to the client living areas.

Cleans serving counters and dining and kitchen areas.

Inventories and stocks clothing used by patients.

Delivers and picks up food carts from living areas.

Checks linen requiring repairs and makes repairs.

Maintains linen room records, including inventories records and deposits cash receipts.

Draws patterns, lays material, and cuts patterns for clothing and household articles.

Makes and repairs sheets, pillow cases, laundry bags, and a variety of comparable items involving cutting and sewing of fabrics.

Mends and repairs uniforms.
