Weekend Supervisor, Champa House

It is the duty of the Champa House Weekend Supervisor (WS) to hold to the doctrine and Constitution/By-Laws of the Denver Rescue Mission (DRM).

The WS must be willing to sign the Denver Rescue Mission Statement of Faith. The WS must also submit to a background checkthrough Intelligent Screening Solutions (ISS).

The WS is a full-time, non-exempt position that reports to the Champa House Program Director (CHPD). The WS is responsible for upholding the policies as set forth by the DRM Board of Directors.

The WS is responsible for maintaining the overall functioning of the Champa House Program during the weekend hours. The WS must have the ability to independently identify and set priorities and coordinate multiple tasks. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

I.Description

  1. Maintain paperwork and follow Champa House policies and procedures at all times:
  2. Check-in Friday afternoon with CHPD, via phone or email to receive pertinent updates/information for the upcoming weekend shift.
  3. Review staff log from previous week to gain a more precise pulse on the house.
  4. Log a thorough report and communicate to relief staff any relevant information regarding participantsthat occurred during the weekend shift.Utilize shift change to communicate and/or consult with that staff.
  5. Document all individual and house related information in the communication log in a clear and concise manner.
  6. Be available to participants for assistance with their children.
  7. Be aware of the status of sick children and transport children and/or residents to the hospital when necessary.
  8. Maintain sick policy for moms and children.
  9. Assist residents in resolving conflict with their children when misbehaving; help maintain discipline policy.
  10. Oversee participants in the performance of program schedule, duties and participation.
  11. Orient new or incoming residents to the weekend schedule and program requirements.
  12. Uphold the safety, rules and procedures while on shift. Assign consequences and hold residents accountable when necessary (consequences beyond the weekend shift are to be referred to the Treatment Coordinator).
  13. Conduct deep cleaning chore checks in accordance to program handbook.
  14. Administer urinalysis tests for drug/alcohol usage as required.
  15. Prepare monthly UA schedule for all program participants in the house log book.
  16. Conduct weekly relapse prevention classes with participants to address addiction struggles/behaviors/dependency.
  17. Answer phones, check messages and respond accordingly.
  18. Conduct tours to volunteers, new or current donors or other visitors as needed.
  19. Transport residents to scheduled events when necessary.
  20. Be aware of who is on Champa House premises during the weekend:
  21. Supervise the coming and going of all Champa House program participants.
  22. Supervise all visitors to Champa House including but not limited to: resident visitors, volunteers, mentors, etc.
  23. Meet resident family, friends and acquaintances for approval of visitation/contact. Log name, telephone, address of approved persons.
  24. Maintain the cleanliness of staff offices.
  25. Maintain house safety by locking up at 10:00pm, checking all exit doors.
  26. Disperse donations when needed.
  27. Attend scheduled staff meetings and / or staff events as required.
  28. Notify CHPD of any staff concerns or problems.
  29. Orient new staff and participants to all weekend schedules and program requirements.
  30. Perform any additional tasks, as required, by the Program Director.

II.Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Social Work or related field of study preferred.
  2. One (1) year of relevant casemanagement experience, preferablywith the homeless population.
  3. Experience working in an addiction recovery environment preferred (i.e. rehabilitation, AA or faith-based recovery program).
  4. Strong written and oral communication skills are required with basic knowledge ofMicrosoft Word, Excel and Outlook and a typing speed of no less than 40 wpm.
  5. Desire to work with low-income, single-parent families.
  6. Knowledge of community resources.
  7. Current and valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

III.Working Hours

  1. Friday 9pm to Sunday 11am
  2. 1st and 3rdWednesday of the month from 2:00pm to 4:00pm to participate in staff meetings.

IV.Travel

  1. Limited amount of work related travel may be required occasionally.
