Role Purpose / To provide an excellent food service to our conference guests throughout the summer vacation period. In doing so contributing to the overall success of Leicester Services Partnership.

As an independent organisation, we provide a host of services and opportunities to deliver an exceptional service to our conference guests throughout the vacation period.

Our mission is to ensure that the customer experience at the University of Leicester is the best it can possibly be. In fact, we want the experience to be exceptional and to help us do this we are currently recruiting for a number of temporary casual Team Leaders to do so.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

·  Deliver excellent customer service by engaging with and responding to customer’s needs.

·  Demonstrate a complete understanding of menu items and explains them to customers accurately.

·  Prepares food neatly and in a timely manner.

·  Understands and adheres to proper food handling, safety and sanitation standards.

·  To report all incidents, unfit food, customer complaints/comments, breakages, loss or theft.

·  Work closely with the back of house team to ensure food standards are met and food is served in a timely manner.

·  Maintain a clean and sanitary work area in accordance with Health Department Regulations directing your team to ensure the same standards throughout the service.

·  Effectively operate the EPOS system, Cashing up and refund function when necessary.

·  Able to work well under pressure during busy periods. Lead the team, coach and feedback to the team throughout the shift.

·  Allocated daily tasks to the team to ensure pre agreed processes are followed and prescribed standards are met.

·  Monitor staff timekeeping, uniform standards, policies and procedures.

·  Respond to customers everyday issues and queries

·  Ensure stock is rotated and that wastage is recorded following prescribed procedures.

·  Contribute to the Hospitality Goals for increasing sales and improving profits.

·  Identify quality and service improvements and ensure these are integrated into future activities.

·  Follow operational policies and procedures, including cash handling, security and health and safety.

·  To perform any other reasonable task as determined by the Leicester Services Partnership.

Resources Managed / Facts and Figures

Daily supervision of a team of approx. 2 – 10 temporary staff.

Bars and Catering outlets over 4 dining rooms, plus external events and day delegate business in various venues across the Oadby site.

Potential for up to 1200 conference delegates during one day.

Planning and Organising

Check daily function sheets to ensure business demands are fulfilled.

Ensure all relevent standards are adhered to when carrying out daily tasks.

Ensure all required daily records are completed and any relevent records that occur during the daily routine are completed (e.g. accident form, daily checklists).

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

Essential:

- Previous experience of team leading in a food & beverage environment

- Be able to carry out basic mathematical calculations and communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.

- Ability to give and receive instruction.

Desirable:

- Basic knowledege of EPOS or simliar till system

- Personal licence holder

- Basic food hygiene

- Responsiveness to satisfying the proper demands of customers and colleagues; to exercise good inter- personal skills and to use good judgement

Additional Information:

- Be prepared to work weekends, Evenings and early starts ; the hours are often unsocialble.

- Uniform to be worn at all times

- Training and development is ongoing and essential to the department to achieve its goals. All staff are required to attend training and development activities.
