JOB TITLE: Service Manager

SALARY & BENEFITS: £25,103+ pension (salary and terms under review)

WORKING HOURS: Full time 39 hours per week

THE COMPANY: We provide a wide range of support to people with learning disabilities and elderly people in care homes, day services and private homes across the UK, including everything from a few hours help each week up to 24-hour support.

THE ROLE: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Manager to lead and manage a team in providing agreed levels of support to people who use our day service in West Lothian in order to achieve their individual goals and lead full and productive lives as valued members of their community. An Carina is a day service for people with learning disabilities based in Polbeth. The service operates 7 hours a day, Monday-Friday and provides a service to a maximum of 12 service users at any one time.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall management of the support services operated
  • Responsible for compliance with the legislation and regulation under which the service operates
  • Ensure agreed appropriate levels of support are provided to individuals, organising staff rotas to make the best use of resources
  • Responsible for the service’s budgetary control
  • Be involved in the assessment of service users and potential service users
  • Liaise with families, social workers and other professionals on behalf of service users
  • Ensure that appropriate medication procedures are in place
  • Responsible for the recruitment and selection of staff
  • Prepare and participate in the induction and on-the-job training of new staff
  • Ensure appropriate financial records are maintained including management of petty cash
  • Prepare monthly financial information in line with organisational requirements
  • Responsible for implementing and monitoring quality assurance and quality control systems

THE CANDIDATE:

Key skills and experience:-

Essential:

  • To be registerable with the SSSC as a Service Manager
  • S/NVQ Level 4 (in both management and care), or equivalent, or be working towards achieving the qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years management experience within a relevant care setting
  • A track record of working within services for people with learning disabilities
  • The ability to lead and motivate a team and provide a clear sense of direction to staff and service users
  • Effective financial and budget management
  • Person Centred Planning
  • Holds full driving licence
  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with challenging Behaviour and complex needs
