JOB DESCRIPTION FOR JUBILEE PROJECT, INC.

PART-TIME OUTREACH COORDINATOR (30 HOURS/WEEK)


Opening Statement:
The ministry of the Outreach Coordinator is part of the over-arching mission of the United Methodist Church to “make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.” The hope is that any potential applicant experiences a genuine calling by God to this position prior to submitting an application. In a variety of ways, the Outreach Coordinator represents the joy, compassion and grace of Jesus Christ.

Supervision: Overall performance and general day-to-day of outreach activities of this positon are supervised by the Executive Director of Jubilee Project. Broad program policy, planning and organizational directions are the responsibility of the Board of Directors of Jubilee Project. The Outreach Coordinator will be subject to all policies and procedures outlined in the current Jubilee Project Employee Manual as it pertains to part-time employees.

Job Responsibilities:

Outreach Coordination

·  Work camp and Water project

o  Work with construction expert to determine skills, materials, cost and time needed for project

o  Communicate with team leadership and Office Manager regarding financial requirements, payment schedules, etc.

o  Look for grant money and make application for grants as needed to help fund repair projects (Rural Development, Veterans, etc.)

o  Publicize and actively seek participants for seasonal work camps.

o  Work with the Water Project Coordinator to combine water and work camp projects

§  this may mean scheduling a series of teams to do sequential projects until the overall projects are completed

o  Document that appropriate insurance coverage is in place for all work team members and contract workers

o  Provide daily assistance to teams working in the area

o  Make sure that worksites are left in good order, including disposing of construction and work team garbage.

o  Be present at group check in and check out to assess damage to facilities

o  Be present at checkout to retrieve loaned tools, secure Jubilee equipment and document tools left behind by groups

o  Work with residents/families to prepare for team arrival

o  Work with team to prepare for residents/families - cultural differences, respect, photos, fellowship, pack a meal for family etc.

o  Take pictures before and after as well as during each project in all ministries

o  Document volunteer hours and agreement of work planned/completed with residents/families and work teams

·  Children/Youth Ministries

o  Explore new ways of being in ministry with children and youth and seek appropriate training as needed

o  Plan and implement a program to address spiritual, economic, social and physical needs of youth

o  Using Jubilee Project van, provide transportation to and from youth meetings and events

o  Work with the Jubilee Board and the Executive Director to find funding for programs

·  Take part in the team effort of Jubilee Project

o  Planning sessions

o  Public speaking to raise awareness and funds

o  Media presentations

o  Assist with thank you notes to donors

o  Do cross-training in other staff position responsibilities

·  Document your work

o  Provide cost/benefit documentation of all ministries

Job Requirements:

·  High school diploma or GED equivalent

·  Previous experience in an administrative setting preferred

·  Computer competence and an ability to learn and use a variety of computer programs (Excel, Publisher, Power Point, etc.)

·  Ability to lift and/or move equipment/supplies weighing up to 40 pounds, if needed

·  Ability and willingness to safely operate Jubilee project vehicles

·  Have an understanding of and commitment to the mission and ministry of Jubilee Project which includes a willingness to work some weekends

·  Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team

·  Compliance with child protection policies (Safe Sanctuary) adopted by Jubilee Project, including a background check

·  Compassion for all persons within the mission of Jubilee Project

Performance: Performance will be reviewed initially 90 days after the first week of work, then semi-annually for one year, then annually thereafter.
