Job Title: Director of Finance

Reports to: President

Status: Regular, Full Time, Salaried, Exempt

Organized in 1915, East Side Neighborhood Services, Inc. (ESNS) is a nonprofit human service agency that provides social and other services to individuals, families and the communities of primarily Northeast and Southeast Minneapolis. Our purpose is to assist people of all ages and backgrounds in realizing a higher quality of life.

Broad Scope and Function of Job:

This position will direct and supervise the areas of finance/accounting, technology and facilities to include the front desk receptionist. The position will also work closely with the Leadership Team in overseeing the internal day-to-day operations of the agency.

Responsibilities:

·  Supervise preparation of monthly financial statements and other analytical reports to ensure compliance with Board-approved plans.

·  Manage the finance function to ensure adequacy of working capital and cash reserves, including financial and cash-flow projections.

·  Coordinate with the Treasurer, the Finance Committee, and accounting staff to provide financial reports and investment information.

·  Lead the budget preparation to ensure that resources are deployed to meet strategic goals, programmatic plans, and contractual obligations.

·  Oversee management of financial investments to maximize investment returns to meet strategic agency goals within the guidelines set forth by the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors.

·  Monitor all program contracts and funding requests to ensure that revenues are spent for the purpose intended and are in compliance with financial and legal requirements.

·  Oversee payroll process to ensure that employees are compensated fairly for hours worked and in compliance with government regulations.

·  Participate on the Technology, Finance and Buildings and Grounds committees.

·  Create, implement, and update a technology plan for the agency.

·  Oversee facilities, facility expansion, facility management (including leasing) and maintenance operations.

·  Work with outside auditors in conducting the annual audit to satisfy Board, bank, and funding requirements.

·  Instill outcome-based management organization-wide.

·  Actively plan and work to instill the culture of a reflective, learning organization throughout the agency.

·  Providing other duties, services and support to ESNS as assigned.

Qualifications:

·  College degree and a minimum of five years of accounting, administrative and managerial experience required preferably with a nonprofit organization.

·  CPA certification and license preferred.

·  Master’s in Business or Public Administration, Finance, or Accounting strongly preferred.

·  Strong understanding of fund accounting and finance required.

·  Knowledge of Abila MIP Fund Accounting software, Paycom and other software is required.

·  Considerable expertise and/or experience with the concepts/practices of Financial Management.

·  Proficiency in MS Office.

·  Ability to work effectively both as a member of a team and independently.

·  Excellent communication and teamwork skills are required.

·  Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work with and supervise a multicultural population.

·  Exceptional organizational, managerial, and interpersonal skills and expertise in finance, accounting, facility management, and technology.
