Job Description – Class Teacher

Reporting to - Deputy Headteacher/Headteacher

Salary- Mainscale

Contract – Full time/ Permanent

General / Contributes in all ways possible to the successful start of a new school year.

Analyse and interpret relevant school data relating to their own class
Liaise with staff, parents and external agencies to provide maximum support and ensure continuity of provision within their class.
Teaching and Learning / To be at minimum a good practitioner with elements of outstanding
Ensure that the deliver lessons where all students can make progress
Differentiated lessons to cater for the needs of every child
Use new technology to enhance learning
Use creativity in delivering music, art and drama
PE/ sport in partnership with specialist teachers.
Set high expectations for pupils’ behaviour and uses rewards and sanction policies effectively
Plan and prepare work for pupils appropriate to their education needs, the requirements of the National/ EYFS Curriculum and the policies of the school.
Set realistic and challenging expectations for all pupils.
Use a variety of teaching strategies and ensure high levels of pupils’ interest.
Establish a safe, supportive and stimulating learning environment where displays and resources are used to help children learn effectively.
Monitoring, assessment and pupil progress / Support the identification of, and provision for, pupils with additional educational needs.
Regularly monitor and record the progress of pupils within the class.
Provide constructive feedback and set targets for improvement.
Evaluate the effectiveness of one’s own teaching and pupils’ learning and make any changes as appropriate.
Give excellent feedback to children
Provide and contribute to oral and written assessments and records relating to the development and learning of individual pupils
Enrichment opportunities / Develop trips and visits to enrich learning
Working Relationships / Achieve constructive working relationship with all staff
Direct organise and manage the work of support staff within the classroom.
Liase effectively with colleagues to ensure the smooth and successful transition of pupils through the school.
Build and maintain co-operative relationships with parents and carers.
Subject Leader Responsibilities / Sustain and improve performance for all pupils in your subject area
Offer support, advice and induction for colleagues with regards to the delivery of your area of responsibility
Develop and effective action plan that develops your subject area’s provision that is aligned to the school’s vision and values.
Development of teaching and learning as a result of identified resources and support for colleagues that enhances the curricular offering for your area of responsibility.
As a direct result of your subject area leadership, positively supporting all colleagues and broadening expertise with regard to learning and teaching in your subject area.
Deliver INSET and Staff Development Meetings that impact positively on learning and teaching and ultimately raises standards in your area of subject responsibility.
Other Professional Requirements / Take responsibility for one’s own professional development including knowledge of school policies and procedures
Take part in the school’s Performance Management process.
Contribute to meetings , discussions and management systems necessary to co-ordinate the work of the school as a whole
