JOB PURPOSE
 To offer information advice and practical support to young people who are seeking employment, work based training or personal development opportunities.
 To work with opportunity providers to match young people to suitable vacancies
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
 Provide an advice and placing service for young people aged 13-19 (up to 25 in the case of young people with special needs) by operating from a local Adviza’s Centre base, but also by undertaking activities from outreach locations, including schools.
 Provide relevant information to young people to assist them to make decisions.
 Canvas employers to seek suitable vacancies for young people and undertake regular follow up contacts with employers with live vacancies on the database.
 Undertake employer visits as appropriate.
 Advocate on behalf of individuals as necessary to maximise the opportunities available to them. Maintain an accurate and comprehensive database of opportunities for young people and match young people to available vacancies.
 Assist young people with the completion of application forms and production of CVs. Coach young people to improve their self presentation, interview and job seeking skills.
 Develop and maintain links with partner agencies, including training providers, LSC and Jobcentre Plus in order to enhance Adviza’s knowledge of the labour market and ensure appropriate referrals are made. This may mean representing the organisation on some occasions.
 Maintain accurate database records of work undertaken with young people and employers. Undertake tracking and follow up activities to ensure that further support is offered to young people as appropriate and that Adviza’s targets to reduce the number of young people who are NEET (Not in employment, education and training) and the number of young people with an unknown destination are met. This will involve telephone and written contact with clients and partner agencies.
 Advise on the benefits available to young job seekers and complete appropriate paperwork to initiate any claim. Liaise with Jobcentre Plus as required to monitor progress/status of any claim
 In consultation with colleagues, identify practical action required to overcome barriers to progression. Monitor and support the progress of young people seeking to implement these actions.
 Offer an aftercare service to young people, and employers who have recruited young people, to deal with any issues which may arise.
 Undertake other administrative tasks necessary to deliver an effective service. Contribute to staff training and induction of new staff to maintain quality of service. Contribute positively to the effectiveness of the local team and whole organisation by operating within defined quality frameworks. Undertake other duties and responsibilities on a short or long term basis as required by Adviza.

KEY CRITERIA / ESSENTIAL (minimum ) REQUIREMENTS / DESIRABLE
QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / Level 2 Qualification or equivalent *

Minimum GCSE Grade C or equivalent in Maths and English Language. / Experience of full time paid employment.
