Job Summary/Purpose:

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room is responsible for the comprehensive care of the surgical patient. This includes all activities, both technical and professional, that contribute to the safest perioperative course for the patient, as well as the most positive outcome possible. The Registered Nurse directs and coordinates the activities of other surgical team members in order to achieve this goal.

Minimum Qualifications:

·  Current State Illinois Registered Nurse License

·  One year experience in an Operating Room or completion of an approved Operating Room training course.

·  ACLS certified for administration of Moderate Sedation.

·  CPR certified.

·  CNOR certification preferred.

Essential Physical Requirements:

·  Ability to perform light to heavy work which includes frequent lifting and positioning of patients. For greater than 50 pounds it may be expected that the nurse will request assistance from a co-worker for lifting and transferring.

·  Ability to stand/walk 6 to 8 hours per shift.

·  Ability to frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop and occasionally kneel and squat.

·  Ability to perform various repetitive tasks i.e., simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation (keyboard).

·  Good visual acuity is required for patient assessment, medication administration and documentation of care.

·  Good hearing is essential for accurate patient assessment.

·  All employees within this job classification may have high-risk exposure to blood borne pathogens or other potentially infectious materials.
