JOB DESCRIPTION: COMMUNITY FUNDRAISER

JOB PURPOSE

1.  To contribute towards the achievement of annually agreed fundraising targets, in consultation with the Ireland Manager, in the execution of policies and procedures established by the Board of Trustees.

2.  To contribute to the development and implementation of a programme of fundraising.

3.  To raise the public profile of Meningitis Research Foundation through fundraising activities.

TASKS

Fundraising

·  With other fundraising staff develop and implement a programme of community fundraising based initiatives.

·  To recruit, support, resource and liaise with volunteers and supporters in relation to fundraising events organised by the Foundation including Fun Day, Belfast Marathon, London Marathon, Great North Run, local runs, various walks, challenges-zipline, abseil, firewalk, skydive, overseas challenges, open challenges, mud runs etc

·  Assisting with large-scale events

·  Develop and implement a fundraising programme for schools (to include colleges and universities)

·  To develop new areas of fundraising with the Manager-targeting specific audiences

·  Be responsible for organising carol singing and Christmas concert

Planning and budgeting

·  To assist the Manager in drawing up annual plans and budgets to reach income targets and develop new areas of fundraising, which comply with legal and statutory requirements.

·  Monitor progress against targets, plans and budgets.

·  Research and identify potential new areas of funding to help meet income targets.

Marketing

·  To work with the media to promote and market the fundraising activity of the Foundation.

·  Gather and correlate information for NI e-newsletter and e-bulletin

·  Update fundraising information on the charity website

Administration

·  To be responsible for helping to maintain the fundraising database (members, events pledges, corporate and other donors).

·  To initiate fundraising correspondence and organise mailings where appropriate whether email or post.

·  To work with other Fundraiser in the administration of pledge follow-up under the direction of the Ireland Manager.

·  To undertake other tasks as may be requested by the Ireland Manager.

Personal Development and General

·  To keep abreast of best practice and legal and statutory requirements for the role.

·  To keep abreast of the Foundation’s research programme, and of current developments in the field of meningitis and septicaemia.

·  To take responsibility for own development and training needs, in consultation with the Ireland Manager.

·  To contribute to the overall development of the Foundation through establishing positive working relationships and effective lines of communication with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders.

·  To carry out other duties as reasonably required by your Line Manager/Chief Executive and/or Board of Trustees.
