JOB DESCRIPTION: Information and Communication Teacher

RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal

JOB SUMMARY: The post holder will be expected to co-ordinate flexible, person-centred programmes of study to designated individuals and groups of young people. To take responsibility in developing the ICT curriculum in consultation with the Principal.

HOURS OF WORK: 195 days per year (Term Time Only). Hours to be agreed with the Principal to include after school clubs, training etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  To teach ICT as a main subject and support with other subjects if needed.

2.  To prepare, plan and assess teaching sessions as part of each pupil’s education programme.

3.  To introduce and support in school clubs both during and after school.

4.  To teach within the framework of the National Curriculum and other qualifications for ICT.

5.  To maintain an awareness of curriculum developments both locally and nationally.

6.  To be responsible for the planning of schemes of work for specific areas of responsibility.

7.  To oversee exam entries in liaison with the Principal and other members of the education team.

8.  To be responsible for the compilation of each pupil education timetable in liaison with the Principal.

9.  Attend and actively contribute to staff meetings and represent the whole education team at meetings as appropriate.

10.  Share relevant information with colleagues to ensure that an overview of the education service is maintained.

11.  Lead/contribute to presentations relating to education where appropriate.

12.  To make baseline and potential assessments of educational attainment, and set achievable targets for improvement.

13.  To monitor progress of young pupils through regular tracking of performance.

14.  To present written assessments of individual referrals as required.

15.  To liaise with previous educational establishments and LEA’s as appropriate.

16.  Write and implement Individual Education Plans.

17.  Organise, prepare for and write reports for annual reviews for pupils.

18.  To deliver lessons creatively, using the whole site and not restricting learning to the classroom.

19.  Build a relationship with all young people, which encourage their interest and participation in education.

20.  Assess and manage risk effectively in education and community settings.

21.  To facilitate effective communication and record keeping of young people’s progress.

22.  Write and present education reports.

23.  To work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and share information with team members in informal and formal situations.

24.  Report relevant aspects of the pupils educational performance and behaviour outcomes’ to appropriate multi-disciplinary team members and outside agencies.

25.  Attend mandatory training.

26.  Identify purposeful educational training needs that will benefit personal professional development, other colleagues and/or pupils.

27.  Maintain high professional standards at all times in terms of personal behaviour and carrying out duties as an educationalist.

28.  Reflect on and evaluate your own performance and the performance of the team.

29.  Participate in supervision/training groups.

30.  Demonstrate evidence of professional development through participation in internal and external training opportunities, personal study and practical experience.

33.  Be responsible for safeguarding pupils and promoting their welfare.

34.  To raise concerns about poor or unsafe practice in regard to children and concerns are addressed sensitively and effectively in a timely manner in accordance with agreed whistle blowing practices.

35.  Ensure safeguarding policies are procedures are implemented rigorously.

36.  Work with relevant agencies to protect children, ensuring sufficient resources and times are allocated to enable discharge of identified needs.

37.  Display commitment to protection and safeguarding of children and young people.
