Job Title:Assistant Accountant

Job Purpose:
- To be a key part of the Finance team and to provide a professionalresponsive service to all members of Anthony Nolan.
- To assist the Management Accountant and Financial Accountant in the production of the charity’s management accounts, forecasts and budgets.
- To assist in balance sheet reconciliations and production of the quarterly VAT return.
Main Responsibilities:
- To assist in the production of the monthly management accounts and forecasts:
- Formulating Excel reporting templates for each division, cost centre and project.
- Updating statistics and other quantitative data for Operations, Laboratory, Cord Blood.
- Monthly accruals, deferrals and cross charges to other divisions.
- To assist in populating the monthly forecasts.
- Uploading weekly sales invoices from SOLAR/CORAL to SAP Business 1.
- Reviewing transplant invoices generated against TP sheets and checking for duplicates.
- Reconciling credit notes to authorisation sheets.
- Posting weekly/monthly journals to SAP Business 1.
- Holding discussions and liaising with the budget holders, when required.
- Grant reporting:
- To maintain grant records: grant agreements and records of remittances.
- To prepare the reports for grant funded projects (Fundraising and Research) on a monthly basis and when requested by Fundraisers and Research scientists.
- To assist in financial analysis;
- To assist with the cost analysis and reporting on Key Performance Indicators.
- To assist with ad-hoc requests for information and analysis from the budget holders.
- To assist in credit control in answering hospital queries regarding Anthony Nolan’s invoices.
- To assist in the budgeting process:
- To prepare budget templates for budget holders.
- To analyse proposals.
- To assist with the budget review process.
- To prepare budget upload files.
- To assist in the monthly reconciliation of balance sheets accounts.
- To assist in preparation of the quarterly VAT return.
- To assist with the preparation of annual accounts
- To reconcile the relevant accounts.
- To prepare audit schedules.
- To assist with the preparation of information for statutory accounts.
- To undertake ad-hoc projects as required by the Financial/Management Accountant.
- To attend training courses as required.
- To prepare for, attend and participate in appraisal sessions.
PersonSpecification
The following attributes are considered essential for the job:
- To be part qualified CIMA or ACCA accountant.
- Proven experience of using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to an advanced level.
- A working knowledge of financial reconciliations and producing VAT returns.
- A proven record of in the area of management accounting, budgeting and forecasting.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to analyse and process data methodically and accurately.
- Ability to communicate clearly and precisely orally and in writing.
- Ability to exercise good judgement and discretion.
- Ability to prioritise to ensure efficient use of time
