POLICY & COMMUNICATION PARTNER – DELIVERY TEAM

Context

Chwarae Teg’s vision is for a Wales where women achieve and prosper. The Delivery Team activities contribute to this vision by supporting individuals, employers, people and organisations with influence, to behave in a way that enables women to achieve their goals. For example, helping create a Wales where women achieve and prosper by:

·  Developing and operating projects that support individual women broaden their horizons and build their confidence and skills to meet their goals; and

·  Working with employers to develop modern workplaces and working practices that provide an environment conducive to women contributing more.

·  Working with influencers, educators and decision makers to build a society that values, supports and benefits women and men equally.

Job Description

The Policy and Communications Partner will work to the Policy and Research Lead and be accountable for providing policy and communications support. This will include:

·  Drafting consultation responses, briefing papers and other policy statements;

·  Carrying out desk-based research to support the Policy and Research Lead and Research Partner and contribute to the work of the team, including consultation responses and briefing papers

·  Developing methods of engagement to elicit information that will inform our consultation responses and policy development;

·  Producing communications and campaigning material, including drafting articles, blogs, newsletters and press releases

·  Liaising with colleagues in marketing and communications teams to ensure that Policy and Research content is communicated effectively across all platforms, including our digital platforms

·  Representing Chwarae Teg at meetings/networks; and

·  Coordinating and promoting events, meetings, launches etc.

·  Building networks with stakeholders and media contacts

Person Specification

All Chwarae Teg staff are expected to commit to and exhibit values, attitudes and behaviours that contribute positively to our vision and mission and the values set out in our organisational DNA (see annex 1).

To carry out this role effectively, it is essential that the post holder also:

·  Is passionate about gender equality and is committed to bringing about political, societal and cultural change to help build a Wales where women achieve and prosper

·  Has experience of working to develop and/or influence policy and the ability to communicate policy positions to a wide range of audiences

·  Has a sound awareness of the political landscape in Wales and understands how to engage and influence policy makers and decision makers including AMs and MPs

·  Has the ability to carry out research and collate information from a wide range of sources

·  Has experience of coordinating and promoting events

·  Has experience of effectively using social media to engage with stakeholders

·  Has good interpersonal skills and is able to represent the organisation in a policy context;

·  Has well developed communication skills and can demonstrate an ability to write for a range of audiences, including policy makers and the wider public;

·  Is a self-starter who can work autonomously and proactively seeks out new opportunities

It would also be useful for the post holder to:

·  Speak and write Welsh

Bydd y Partner Polisi a Chyfathrebu yn gweithio gyda’r Arweinydd Polisi ac Ymchwil ac yn atebol am ddarparu cymorth ym maes polisi a chyfathrebu. Bydd hyn yn cynnwys:

·  Drafftio ymatebion i ymgynghoriadau, papurau briffio a datganiadau polisi eraill;

·  Cynnal ymchwil desg i gefnogi’r Arweinydd Polisi ac Ymchwil a’r Partner Ymchwil a chyfrannu at waith y tîm, gan gynnwys ymatebion i ymgynghoriadau a phapurau briffio;

·  Datblygu dulliau ymgysylltu i gasglu gwybodaeth a fydd yn llywio ein hymatebion i ymgynghoriadau a datblygiad polisi;

·  Cynhyrchu deunydd cyfathrebu ac ymgyrchu, yn cynnwys drafftio erthyglau, blogiau, cylchlythyrau a datganiadau i’r wasg;
