Job Purpose/Summary
To develop, implement and maintain a robust and effective clinical audit programme appropriate to different service types which will provide evidence and assurance of compliance with healthcare regulation and best practice.
To develop audit tools which measure current practice against policy standards, regulatory standards and evidence based practice.

Duties & Responsibilities
To be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of an effective clinical audit programme through cooperative working with clinical governance and clinical leads.
To establish the current best practice or legislative standards applicable to our services and to develop and apply audit tools accordingly.
To develop effective audit tools for a variety of care settings involving patients and carers where possible.
To work collaboratively with the Clinical Data Analyst to assist the local audit leads in producing clear and effective reports with recommendations for improvements, where necessary, and monitoring the progress of these.
To work collaboratively with the Assistant Director Quality Improvement to ensure all opportunities for service improvement are identified and acted upon.
To work with the Clinical Data Analyst and Assistant Director Quality Improvement to ensure comprehensive action plans are developed and implemented by each site.
To drive the National Clinical Audit Programme by effective support of the Clinical Audit Group meetings by preparing agenda, minutes and reports as necessary.
To raise the profile of the importance and use of audit in all care settings.
To provide tuition, advice and support to clinical and non-clinical staff in relation to audit and survey activity.
To advise and assist local clinical teams to develop local audit programmes that are effective and complement the national programme.
To liaise with external Clinical Audit Groups as necessary.
To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of regulation, standards, and clinical governance practice.
To assist in the production of the annual quality account.
To produce reports for a number of regular quality assurance boards and committees with additional ad hoc reports as requested.
To ensure the preparation and submission of appropriate audit proposals to the Clinical Audit Group for onward submission to the Clinical Governance Board for approval.
To identify and participate in any functional changes necessary to ensure the continued effective development of the audit programme.

Criteria / Essential / Desirable / How assessedSkills / Abilities / Significant knowledge of clinical governance and quality assurance in healthcare
Excellent and extensive IT skills in using standard packages such as Excel, Word and presentation packages
Proof of planning and organisational ability including proactive self-starter, ability to prioritise and work flexibly and ability to meet tight deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skill to facilitate effective cross-function team working
Ability to influence multi-disciplinary teams
Knowledge / Fully developed understanding of how clinical audit fits into clinical governance to improve patient care
Deep and broad knowledge on how to develop clear and accurate audit tools
Deep and broad knowledge on how to present audit data to bring about the most effective improvements to care / Understanding of healthcare delivery across the UK in different settings
Qualifications,
training and education / Degree level education preferably in a health-related topic
Demonstrable CPD
Experience / Proven long-term experience in clinical audit in a healthcare setting
Effective training and presentation experience / Experience in working in multiple settings
Experience in project planning
Other requirements / Organised and systematic approach to work.
Flexibility to travel

Salary:Up to £39437 per annum, dependant on experience
Annual leave entitlement:25 days plus bank holidays
Notice period:One month (after probationary period)
Working hours:35 Hours per week
Probationary period:Six months
