Position:Business Manager
Classification:Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (Level 7)
Position Description
Key Role:The Business Manageris part of the executive management team working closely with the Executive Director, Program Coordinators and Finance Officer. They are responsible for the day to day management of Care’s business operations and the development of systems to support service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Corporate support, operational and practice management
- Oversee the overall smooth running of the day-to-day administration of Care.
- Manage corporate functions and drive systems improvement to ensure effective and efficient processes are in place. This includesliaison with external contractors(tenancy, IT, and other HR systems) and provision of advice to the Executive Director regarding opportunities to improve arrangements.
- Develop and support Care’s data and document management systemand other reporting and business procedures.
- In consultation with contractors, schedule and ensure routine and non-routine maintenance of building and equipment and provide advice on purchase and replacement of equipment.
- Human Resourcesand compliance
- Supervise the administrativeteam;ensuring administrative support meets contracted standards.
- Under general direction, manage recruitment processes, including preparation and placement of job advertisements, managing applications, coordinating interviews and preparing letters of offer and employment contracts.
- Regularly review and update Care’s Policies and Procedures, Risk Management Guide and Business Continuity Plan to ensure they meet contractual obligations.
- Develop and implement new policies and procedures in accordance with relevant legislative and professional standards.
- Maintain knowledge of and support compliance with relevant legislation, regulation and contractual obligations, including as an Incorporated Association.
- Executive Support
- Provide high level support and assistance to the Executive Director, the Board and staff.
- Assist with preparation of funding applications and funding reports as required.
- Seek opportunities and assist in applying for additional funding from government and alternative sources.
- Provide secretariat support to the Board, including circulating papers, liaising between the Board and Executive Director and facilitating the induction of newly appointed Board members.
- Liaise with external stakeholders as required.
- Administration and accountability
- Participate in regular meetings with the Executive Director, Program Coordinatorsand Finance Officer as required.
- Provide regular reports on the office administration to the Executive Director and ensure compliance with policies and procedures of Care.
- Attend regular staff meetings as required.
- Other relevant duties as directed by the Executive Director.

Selection Criteria
Essential
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in developing and implementing organisational policies and procedures
- Experience in preparing grant and tender documents for existing and new sources of funding from a variety of sources
- Demonstrated capacity to manage corporate and administrative functions within an organisation
- Exceptional problem solving skills
- Demonstrated capacity to network and develop and maintain strategic partnerships
- Previous experience working within a corporate team environment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as to be an effective member of a small professional team
- Sound IT skills and knowledge and understanding of client management systems
- Hold a current Working with Vulnerable People Card
Desirable
Work experience in the Community Sector
Demonstrated high level analytical and research skills
