Job Action Sheet 1

PHYSICIAN

  • Upon Activation
  • Report to staging area
  • Receive briefing, education/training on assigned role.
  • Receive name of individual reporting to and Staging area contact information inthe event of any unforeseen complications.
  • Ensure you are familiar with appropriate clinical protocols in accordance withbriefing.
  • Will be assigned PPE, Vest and communications equipment as necessary.
  • Response Phase:

  • Attend overall staff briefing.
  • Provide for health care needs of patients.
  • Provide for healthcare needs of healthcare professionals and support staff.
  • Point of Dispensing (POD): (Importance High, Risk Low to Moderate)
  • Attend overall staff briefing.
  • Will be given information about biological agent/infectious diseaseinvolved and treatments being provided.
  • Conduct medical screening.
  • Provide medical assessment of those with chronic medical conditions.
  • Determine what types of treatment or medications that may be needed.
  • Answer medical questions.
  • Complete medical screening log.
  • Triage: (Importance High, Risk Moderate To High)
  • Attend overall staff briefing.
  • Perform health assessments.
  • Determine severity of injuries.
  • Perform first aid tasks including CPR.

  • Will be given information about biological agent/infectious diseaseinvolved, treatment locations and triage instructions.
  • Will be in direct contact with ESF 8 located in the EOC.
  • As medical consultant, Assist phone operators to answer medicalquestions.
  • Provide phone triage/assessment based on ESF 8 information.
  • Direct public to appropriate treatment areas based on ESF 8 information.

Nurse

  • Ensure you are familiar with appropriate clinical protocols in accordance withbriefing.
  • Will be assigned PPE and communications equipment as necessary.
  • Response Phase:

  • Attend overall staff briefing.
  • Provide for health care needs of patients.
  • Provide for healthcare needs of healthcare professionals and support staff.
  • Point of Dispensing: (Importance High, Risk Low to Moderate)

  • Reports to nursing coordinator.
  • Will be given information about biological agent/infectious diseaseinvolved and treatments being provided.
  • Interview each person prior to entering POD to determine health status.
  • Provide medical assessment of those with chronic medical conditions.
  • Determining what type of treatment or medication that will be needed andrefer to appropriate dispensing area.
  • During Triage, Provide basic information about medications.
  • Dispense medication.
  • Educate medication recipients on side effects.

Pharmacist

  • Upon Activation

  • Ensure you are familiar with appropriate clinical protocols in accordance withbriefing.
  • Will be assigned PPE and communications equipment as necessary.

  • Responsible for pharmaceutical supplies on site
  • Provide drug consultation, dosage, contraindications, etc.
  • Point of Dispensing: (Importance High, Risk Low to Moderate)
  • Attend overall staff briefing.
  • Will be given information about biological agent/infectious diseaseinvolved.
  • Reports to POD manager if you are Pharmacy Coordinator.
  • Report to Pharmacy Coordinator if you are pharmacy staff.
  • Ensure all pharmaceutical supplies are on site.
  • Ensure security, storage and handling of pharmaceuticals.
  • Record pharmaceuticals received from LSA.
  • Works with medical screening and dispensing.
  • Understands and explains drug interactions.
  • Answer pharmaceutical questions
  • Recovery/Termination Phase:
  • Ensure left over pharmaceuticals are counted and secure.
  • Repack and return SNS pharmaceuticals.
  • Attend debrief
  • Identify issues for the After Action Report.

Mental health

  • Greet each person-entering POD.
  • Distribute information Packets.

  • Continuously monitor personnel flow.
  • Provide early alert for security personnel.
