Jimmy Mendez, Senior Manager, has over 30 years of healthcare reimbursement and auditing experience in various roles with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, CHRISTUS Health and Guidry & East LLC. Jimmy has vast reimbursement experience and has held multiple management positions throughout his career. He has expertise in IME, GME, DSH, Wage Index, Cost reporting and extensive experience with Transplant programs. Jimmy received a BBA in Accounting from Texas State University and has served on the Board of Directors for the South Texas chapter of HFMA.

Robert Mahoney, Senior Consultant, has over 25 years of progressively responsible experience in the preparation of Medicare Cost Reports and state Cost Reports, accounts receivable and month-end net revenue analysis, along with monitoring expense and revenue budgets. He has experience in departmental profit and loss statements, charge setting, charge maximization, and charge sensitivity. Prior to joining BESLER, Bob was the Reimbursement Manager at Princeton HealthCare System, a 300-bed, acute-care teaching hospital. He began his career in healthcare at Raritan Bay Medical Center, where he served as a financial analyst. Additionally, Bob is well versed in Wage Index and Graduate Medical Education and is current on all regulations affecting program status and intern counts. Bob received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Saint Peter’s University. He is a member of the New Jersey HFMA chapter.

Dana C. Aylward, Senior Consultant has over 14 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining BESLER, Dana was a Reimbursement Analyst at Norwalk Hospital Association, a 330-bed acute-care teaching hospital, where she was responsible for all external reporting including the Medicare Cost Report, wage index, the State of Connecticut Medicaid Cost Report, the State of Connecticut Office of Healthcare Access Annual and Actual filings, and any other ad hoc reports. In addition, she managed the hospital’s charge master and price setting. Since joining BESLER, Dana’s primary focus has been on all worksheets in the preparation of the Medicare Cost Report and Disproportionate Share eligibility, as well as NPR Reviews, identifying, tracking and pursuing Medicare Cost Report appeals. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Western Connecticut State University and is a current member of the Connecticut HFMA chapter.

Barbara Ihrig, Consultant has 12 years of accounting experience and is currently a Reimbursement Consultant where she is responsible for the preparation of Medicare Cost Reports and Reviews as well as NPRs. Barbara has an understanding of the Medicare appeals process and has responsibility for gathering documentation necessary for preparing individual and group appeals. Barbara also assists with other reimbursement projects such as Wage Index reviews and geographic reclassifications. Barbara’s background in accounting coupled with her experience with consolidated financial statements and other forms of financial reporting makes her a strong asset to the Reimbursement team. Barbara graduated Magna Cum Laude from Bloomfield College, where she earned Bachelor degrees in Accounting and Business Administration. She is the co-chair of the NJ HFMA Regulatory and Reimbursement Committee.
