Intro: John 19:26-27

Jesus was always thinking about others first. In that way, He is like a Mom.

Jesus gave His Mom four things on that awful day; no gifts, no cards, no flowers, but three things that each of us should give our moms and our wives...

i. first, he gave her ______of where he was going.

Does your mom have that? Do you know how valuable that is?

Mary had that assurance.

Some of you have heard your moms pray for you!

Why don’t you give your mom the best present you could ever give her today? Why don’t you give her the assurance that you are going to heaven?!

ii. Second, he gave her the assurance of ______for the rest of her life.

Too many mothers are forgotten today. By herself...alone...no one to watch over her.

But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. 1Tim 5:8

A card is not enough. A dinner is not sufficient.

iii. third, he gave her a son who was in the ______of God!

You owe it to her.

She bore you...

She nursed you...

She kissed away the hurts of childhood...

She played with you...

She sat by your bedside when the fever was raging...

Your mom was there for you. Be there – in the will of God – for her!

iv. He gave her john, to ______for her when He was gone.

“John, behold your mother.”

Jesus gave him a mother and His mother a son.

God gave each of us a mom:

1. Not perfect, but she’s yours.

2. She did without for you.

3. She prayed for you.

Tell mother I’ll be there, in answer to her prayer,

This message, blessed Savior to her bear.

Tell mother I’ll be there, heaven’s joys to share,

Oh, Savior, tell my mother I’ll be there.
