Revelation 1:12-16

“Jesus In the Midst”

This week we will focus in on the Personification Of Christ 1:12-16. Do you see Jesus? To be used effectively we must see Jesus in the midst! “In the midst of the seven golden lampstands”

John paints a beautiful portrait of Christ. Each stroke of his brush presents a new color, a new dimension, a new trait. We will look at nine different strokes of his brush. John sees Jesus as He is...

Do you see Jesus? We must see Jesus in the midst...

I. AS THE SON OF MAN...THE LORD IS RISEN! (1:13a)

“Like the Son of Man”

*Here was the one John conversed with in life. Now at the end of his journey

Jesus is still there.

*He knows what we are like. He has gone through pain, pressure, mistreatment,

betrayal, misunderstanding. He has been where we are!

Do you see Jesus? We must see Jesus in the midst...

II. AS THE GREAT HIGH PRIEST...THE LORD IS REIGNING! (1:13b)

“Clothed with a garment down to the foot, and gird about the breasts with a

golden girdle”

*This is the robe of the high priest.

*Jesus is our high priest.

*Though glorified, He still has the same heart…showing

mercy…affection…sympathy…love for His people.

Do you see Jesus? We must see Jesus in the midst...

III. AS THE ANCIENT OF DAYS...THE LORD IS RIGHTEOUS! (1:14a)

“His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow”

*Here is One who is all wise.

*That means there are no accidents. He makes no mistakes. He knows exactly

what He is doing.

*His hindsight is never better than His foresight.

*He does everything right the first time.

Do you see Jesus? We must see Jesus in the midst...

IV. AS THE JUDGE...THE LORD IS REVEALING! (1:14b)

“His eyes were like a flame of fire”

*You may fool some, but you’ll never fool Jesus!

*He sees all things…nothing is hidden from His sight.

*He sees beyond the façade.

*He has no hidden agenda.

*He will judge, and one day man will give an account.

Do you see Jesus? We must see Jesus in the midst...

V. AS THE LAMB OF GOD...THE LORD IS RELENTLESS! (1:15a)

“His feet like fine bronze, as if they burned in a furnace”

*With white hotness He treads across our hearts.

*With white hotness He brings conviction, and burns away dross.

Do you see Jesus? We must see Jesus in the midst...

VI. AS THE VOICE OF OUR BELOVED...THE LORD IS REGAL! (1:15b)

“His voice like the sound of many waters”

*A single word from Him drowns out all other voices.

*One day when He speaks all men will hear and all men will know He has

spoken!

*When God speaks…listen!

Do you see Jesus? We must see Jesus in the midst...

VII. AS THE LORD OF THE HARVEST...THE LORD IS RULING! (1:16a)

“He had in His right hand the seven stars”

*Christ is His power, glory, protection, victory, life and light!

*Nothing touches me without touching my Savior.

*Nothing touches me without His permission.

Do you see Jesus? We must see Jesus in the midst...

VIII. AS THE CAPTAIN OF OUR SALVATION...THE LORD IS

RESOURCEFUL! (1:16b)

“Out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword”

*That is the potent Word of God for that is what will guide us along the journey

of life and take us home!

*By His Word…With His Word…Through His Word will ensure our safe arrival!

Do you see Jesus? We must see Jesus in the midst...

IX. AS THE ALTOGETHER LOVELY ONE...THE LORD IS RADIANT! (1:16c)

“His countenance was as the sun shineth in its strength”

*Christ is to our spiritual world what the sun is to our natural world.

*His glory is blinding!

*Yet, by His grace we can draw near!

Wherever you are you must see Jesus in the middle.

This life isn’t about you!

He is all you need.

“He demands my soul, my life, my all.”

When we see Jesus in the midst we will gladly say,

“Here it is!”

“Take my life…all of it!”
