Explanation of PFA Committees
Here are some fun ways to get involved in your student’s school.
We would love to have you join us!
Ice Cream Social-An evening of fun for the whole family with ice cream sundaes, cookies, cake walk, Bingo, and a Share-the-Wealth raffle.
Jog-a-Thon–Popular school day (usually morning) event for K-6 students. Volunteers needed at event to mark tally sheets, time heats, offerrefreshments, and after event to count funds received.
Scarecrow– A beloved after-schoolcommunity event featuring games, food, and elaborate scarecrow displays created by each K-6 class. Volunteers needed at event to workgames, sell tickets, work in snack wagon, food booths, and more.Also set-up and take-down.
Scarecrow Cookies – The famous cookies for sale at the Festival are baked, decorated, and packaged by parent volunteers
Fund the Arts Auction – The PFA’s most lucrative annual fundraiser: a fun, adults-only, evening with the Classroom Collaborative Art Live Auction, Silent Auction,food, wine, and more! Volunteers needed for event planning, organization, sponsorships, decoration, auction assistance, etc.
Science Fair/STEAM Night-Help with event management, including setting up the science projects/displays, refreshments; possible judging.
Science Coordinator – Volunteer(s) to oversee science supplies; may assist with classroom science projects or lessons
Staff Appreciation-Help with Staff Appreciation Week in spring; possible other opportunities
Art to Grow-Aid with classroom art instruction. Curriculum orientation, art supplies, and guidance provided for all art volunteers -noexperience needed! This is a very rewarding way to participate in your child’s education, do something creative, and get to know other parents!
Yearbook – Volunteers to photograph events; yearbook layout; sales/distribution
PFA Newsletter– Volunteer(s) needed for layout; possibly ad sales
Spanish Translation: Volunteers needed to translate English to Spanish, primarily for newsletter
New Opportunities-Supports students and families in need; organizesThanksgiving baskets
Class Parents-Parent(s) needed for each classroom to assist teacher with parties/special events
Library- Assistschoollibrarian with shelving books, helping students when needed, and possible help during the annual Book Fair(s) or other events.
Walking School Bus-Be in charge of walking a group of children to school.
PFA Membership–Promote membership through the year, including Fall membershipdrive
Box Tops – Promote, collect, organize Box Tops, and packagefor mailing
Free Money – Cultivate and promote Free Money opportunities, including consumer shopping give-backs, ie. Raley’s, Save-Mart, Amazon Smile, Target, I-Give
Playground - Help to keep our playgrounds beautiful and clean by volunteering on scheduled cleanup days or evenings
Hearts & Spades Garden Club – Oversee garden, coordinate with teachers, organize summer care
Go Green Club–Assist faculty chair with the student “Go Green Club”
General volunteers-If you would like to volunteer, but have an unpredictable schedule, this is the job for you. We will contact you as needed for various events or activities.
