Business Context
Genetic Disorders UK is a national charity that supports families and children affected by genetic disorders. Jeans for Genes Day, when children and adults pay £1 or £2 to wear their jeans to school and work, is our main annual fundraising event.
We are looking for anenthusiastic Marketing Executive with outstanding administration and organisation skills toprovide support to Jeans for Genes Day. The Marketing Executive will play a vital role in supporting the Jeans for Genes Day team and assisting on key activities fundamental to the Day’s growth and success.
Key accountabilities
  • Jeans for Genes Day supporter care. Acting as the central point of contact for supporters of Jeans for Genes Day.This will involve answering supporter enquires (telephone, email and post) and when appropriate referring them to other members of the team. With special attention to our top 100 donating organisations.
  • Outbound supporter administration.Assisting in various telephone research projects for example to understand why a supporter registered for Jeans for Genes Day but did not take part; calling supporters who have not returned their sale or return monies / charity badges; contacting potential high street outlets (retail / banking) to sell our charity pins (telephone, email and post).
  • Coordinating mail shots.Coordinating mail shots to recruit new corporate partners and supporter groups.
  • Image library. Uploading, labelling and clearly categorising photography and imagery from Jeans for Genes Day.
  • Social media.Plan and develop messaging and interaction on Jeans for Genes Day social media channels and blog (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram)
  • Free advertising campaign - The marketing team regularly secure £1.5million+ worth of free press and online advertising in support of Jeans for Genes Day. The Marketing Executive will have overall responsibility for planning and implementation our free advertising campaign. This will include women’s magazines, national trade and educational press, national and regional newspapers and online advertising.
  • Smaller scale corporate partnerships. Assisting the Jeans for Genes Day teamwith servicing and supporting confirmed sales promotions and smaller scale corporate partnerships.
  • Leaflet distribution campaign. Assisting the Director of Marketing with Jeans for Genes Day leaflet distribution campaign, coordinating flyers and associated collateral across key sites in London and in 7 key regional cities.
  • Merchandising – Coordinating the production of Jeans for Genes Day merchandise (fashion and campaign t-shirts, bags, charity pins) and ensuring that they are produced on brief and to deadline.

Person Specification
Experience
  • One year’s marketing related work experience.
Key Skills:
  • Warm and clear telephone manner – ability to cold call without fear or worry!
  • Excellent English writing skills
  • Outstanding organisation skills – you should be someone who is known by others for being very organised
  • Ability to multi task, prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Excellent team player
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Enjoys taking the initiative and working independently
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word)
