ROLE

The role of the JCI Nigeria BOD is to run the organisation in a professional and business-like manner, in accordance with the mission and vision of JCI.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL DIRECTORS

Contribute to the development of the organisation plan of action / Appropriate plan representing all areas of opportunity willbe developed
Attend all BOD meetings / To discuss and make decisions on the running of the
organisation with other directors
Fill in activity reports prior to meetings / These ensure a record is kept of activities, passes
important information between directors and means lesstime is wasted during meetings on day-to day activities sowe can concentrate on strategic issues
Attend at least one chapter meeting apart from your chapter per month / These are one of the key ways to attract new members tothe organisation in general and your area of responsibilityand to let existing members know how they can becomeactive
Attend open programmes on behalf of the organisation / These are one of the key ways to attract new members tothe organisation in general
Ensure project reports are filled in with the secretariat after majorprojects/events (within one month where possible). / To promote knowledge transfer, share successes and
learning outcomes and make filling in national and international awards easier
Publish articles on major events/projects / To promote organisation’s activities and show members whodid not come what they missed out on
Send names of event attendees to membership director(within one week of event if possible / To allow us to track member activities and follow up withpotential members

EXECUTIVE SECRETARY

ROLE

Responsible for overseeing the completion of all council administration

Constitutional oversight / To make sure that all BOD, Local Organisation and other Organisational activities are done in a constitutional manner
Compile and distribute agenda for BOD meetings and to send them 7 days to such meetings / Maximise efficiency of council meetings
Compile and distribute minutes from council meetings and to send them to BOD Members within 7 days of such meeting / Directors clear on actions on which they should follow up
Collate spreadsheet of director activity reports for BOD meetings / Maximise efficiency of BOD meetings and facilitate

Transfer of knowledge: responsible for central depositoryfor all BOD documents / Maximise knowledge transfer and continuity
Post event descriptions provided by directors on JCIN

TREASURER

ROLE

Responsible for administering day to day finances and long-term financial planning, to ensure the financial interestsof the organisation are protected and managed in an appropriate way to secure the future success and financialviability of the organisation.

Support directors on project book-keeping / Events run in profitable way, members learn finance skills
Maintaining relationship with external advisors and patrons / Ability to call on advisors and patrons for support at all times
Manage the organisation’s investments / Funds invested in most appropriate manner to maximisevalue for members
Ensure all monies are banked promptly and all invoicesare paid on time / Protect the reputation of the organisation
Ensure up to date financial information is available, in amanner that BOD members understand / Responsibility to the BOD and members to have atransparent system
Co-ordinating grant applications / Secure funding to invest in the organisation

DIRECTOR OF GROWTH

ROLE

To promote membership to potential members so the organisation grows and maintain a database of membersso profile of members and activities can be tracked.

Send welcome e-mail/new member welcome pack to all new members / Members feel welcome, receive useful information about the organisation and know how to become active and are likely to become more engaged
Ask for feedback/reasons for members leaving / To learn from mistakes, improve membership experience for members, ensure future growth
Update new member welcome pack / Ensure members are getting up-to-date and appropriateinformation which will best represent the organisation
Organise village meetings in partnership with Local Organisations, the Government and corporate organisation / Attract new members and grow the Organisation
Visitation to at least 2/3 of all the chapters with the EVPs and NVPs involvement / To have a first-hand information on membership strength and involvement
To facilitate the creation of at least 6 new chapters in the country with a minimum of one chapter in Area C and D / To increase our membership base.

DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS.

ROLE

Responsible for the development of external relationships with strategic partners both in the government and private sector, resulting in mutual gain toJCI Nigeria and the partner

Identify and make contact with potential partners andsponsors (local and regional companies, serviceproviders, professional organisations,development and training organisations, studentorganisations, senators, Honourable, Government Ministries and Establishments and The Media) / Gain high profile partners, monetary or benefits in kind or attract new members to the organisation. To also provide other source of income for the organisation apart from membership dues
Maintain and develop JCI Nigeria’s relations with existingpartners if any, and in the absence of existing partners, he should build at least 5 new partners for the organisation / Ensure continuity of relationships from which JCI Nigeria can benefit
Make sure sponsors and partners are recognized by JCINigeria in marketing material and through other benefits / The Organisationshould be able to give somethingback to its partners and this will also help to ensure theiron-going support
Create template for sponsor agreements / For ease of use, continuity and professionalism
Create visitation opportunity for the President in all the Relevant Government Establishments. / To provide maximum benefits for JCI Nigeria members and visibility for the organisation

DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS AFFAIRS

ROLE

To organise a programme of business events and projects, overseeing and mentoring their project leaders for the activities during the year.

Collect ideas for new events that will provide business networking opportunities and develop event schedule / Ensure the organisation has a fresh, relevant and variedbusiness programme
Kick off the JCI Nigeria Business Academy and other projects/programmes that will mentor, support and boost entrepreneurs within JCI Nigeria. / Ensure that JCI Nigeria members get support to start and grow their own business by tapping into various platforms locally and internationally.
Contact existing and new business partners, use thenetwork of other (BOD) members / Develop partnerships for the benefit of the organisation andits members
Create networking opportunities for JCI Nigeria members andcompanies and corporations in the country via business networking events in all Area and national events (BNE). / For the mutual benefit of both members and partnercompanies
Make sure all project teams and BOD members are upto date on marketing strategies, where to market events,and have the material they need / So JCI Nigeria has a well-attended programme of eventscontributing to the attraction of new members to the organisation
Find partners and sponsors for marketing materials / To help pay for the cost of the materials, so the organisation remains financially stable
Create a budget for marketing materials / Ensure that materials are cost-efficient
Investigate potential corporate gifts / To reward partners, sponsors and members and promotethe organisation when these are seen by other people
Encourage common branding / So that a consistent and professional image is maintained by the organisation at all levels
Support the president in developing a solid
relations with Nigeria Chamber of
Commerce & Industry and the International Chamber of Commerce / Ensure continuity of this relationship as important for JCI Nigeria to be able to leverage on the use of the chamber’s network for the growth of the organisation

NATIONAL EDITOR (DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS)

ROLE

Responsible for the promotion of the organisation, oversee the development of marketing and PR strategy andthe provision of promotional materials for the organisation.

Research and look at potential PR opportunities for JCINigeria in published materials, radio, TV and the print media / Enhance the reputation and visibility of the chamber andits activities

Oversee the production of a monthly Newsletter and to source for external funding for the newsletter / To keep members informed about various activities of the organisation at all levels

DIRECTOR OF TRAINING

ROLE

To organise various training programmes for members to help them in the better understanding of the organisation and individual development of the membership.

To initiate the compulsory conduct of JCI Achieve and Admin in all chapters / To keep members informed
To develop quality trainers for the organisation, who have passed through JCI Achieve and Admin / Will give the organisation trainers that understands the vision and mission of JCI
To attend and ensure the smooth running of trainingevents during national training retreat, collegiate conference, area conferences and NATCON (e.g. confirm venue bookings, introducing and thanking speakers and trainers, purchasing refreshments etc) / So JCI Nigeria has a well-organised and well-attendedprogramme of events contributing to the attraction of new members to the organisation and the development of current members
Take charge of the international public speaking, speech contest and debating competitions and to identify possible competitors for national competition / Encourage members to develop their skills and enhance the reputation of JCI Nigeria as a leading chamber for public speaking and debating training
Monitor and supervise the Organisation of signature courses at all levels of the organisation / To make sure standards are maintained

CHAIRMAN TRAINING INSTITUTE

ROLE.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS

To build the training institute to the level of taking up corporate training in other to generate external income for the organisation during the year.

Host the JCI Nigeria Leadership Academy and other “top gun” courses. / Platform for capacity building for future leaders.
Promote national and international training events andhelp to organise it in the country for members and non-members / For the benefit of members and the vitality of theorganisation as members are more likely to stay after attending national and international events and new members are likely to also join the organisation.
Design training for corporate institutions to serve as means of generating fund and as benefit for partners / This will help in developing the organisation and help to retain and sustain partners and sponsors
To register the JCI Nigeria Training Institute with relevant training regulators / To give us leverage in both the public and private sector

DIRECTOR OF INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

ROLE

To promote and organise members for international events and programmes, overseeing all traveling and international activities during the year.

Liaise with other National DIAto make JCI Nigeriaattendance at international events meaningful / Assist national promotion and co-ordination of events andhelp JCI Nigeria members connect with the nationalorganisation and members from other chambers
Maintaining existing international relationships as well asidentifying and responding to queries about newrelationships / To maintain and enhance JCI Nigeria’s reputation asprobably the most international and internationally wellconnectedorganisation in the country
Managing JCI Nigeria’s twinning relationships / To promote the sharing of best practice and friendshipsacross international boundaries
Creating and Managing the international project team for JCI Nigeria / Provide development opportunities and mentoring for JCI Nigeria members interested in the international area ofopportunity
Promoting JCI’s international aspect, partners andactivities / To maintain and enhance JCI Nigeria’s reputation asprobably the most international and internationally well connectedorganisation in the country
International networking on behalf of JCI Nigeria / Enhancing JCI Nigeria’s reputation
Maintaining relationships with foreign embassies, diplomatic missions and visa application centres. / To enhance the smooth processing of JCI members visa and overseas visitations.

DIRECTOR OF PROJECTS

ROLE

To organise a programme of community events and projects, overseeing and mentoring their project leadersfor the activities during the year.

Liaise with external organisations/people in order toidentify/arrange joint events that will promote the ideals of the organisation and that will attract corporate sponsorship. / For the mutual benefit of the organisation, its members, the partner organisations and the community as a whole
Create, attend and lead community project meetings in collaboration with Local Governments and State Governments. / To support the government in the area of community development and to ensure events are high quality and professionally run andthat team members learn and grow
Prepare budget/event management plans for events / Ensure events are high quality, professionally run and asprofitable as possible
Identify, appoint and mentor project managers for each Area / Contribute to the personal development of team members
