January 6 First Friday: New Beginnings Edition

January 3, 2017, DAYTON, Ohio — Anyone who made a resolution to “date their city” can score big achievement points on Friday, Jan. 6, for the first First Friday of 2017! Check out new art gallery exhibits, dig into local music, try specialty dishes and drinks at independent restaurants, and explore everything the city has to offer.

• Dutoit Gallery, 1001 E. Second St.: Visit the solo exhibition by artist Mychaelyn Michalec, featuring new work created during her month-long residency at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT. The show, “I've never stopped wondering what my life would have been like,” includes two-dimensional paintings and drawings that reflect on domestic life, memories, and the contrast of idealism versus reality.

Front Street Galleries, 1001 E. Second St.: Check out the large collection of art and artists in unique warehouse spaces at the Front Street Galleries. Artists will be on hand to discuss their work and sell parts of their collection to take home.
