CPRS District 2 is proud to offerthe Jane H. Adams Professional Development Grant. This grant honors the 26 year career of Jane Adams as Executive Director of the California Park & Recreation Society. Jane’s passion for parks & recreation was influential as she positioned professionals for success through providing training, resources, and fighting to position parks & recreation as essential services. The grant will forever pay tribute to Jane and her years of service to CPRS and the thousands of members she touched.
District 2 recognizes the needthat professionals must attend on-going training in order to be successful. This professional grant will give members the opportunityto receive financial assistance to continue his/her professional development. District 2 has made $1,500 available for grants to be awarded to deserving individuals who have demonstrated a dedication to the profession. A maximum grant amount of $500 is available to those applicants that qualify and are selected. Grants may be used to pay the registration fees, lodging and travel expenses (excluding meals) for training opportunities that are offered for professional development of the park and recreation professional.
JANE H. ADAMS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT CRITERIA:
1)Applicants must be employed by a CPRS District 2 agency.
2)Applicants must be a member of the CaliforniaPark and Recreation Society.
3)Applicants must demonstrate a dedication to the profession through current and past professional affiliations and involvement.
4)Applicants must demonstrate a sincere desire to contribute to CPRS and District 2.
5)Applicants must complete and submit the District 2 Professional Development application form, and requested attachments by the posted deadline.
SELECTION PROCESS:
Grants will be awarded based on the above listed criteria and the merit of the application. The selection committee reserves the right to reject any and all applications that do not meet the grant criteria. The selection committee shall be members of District 2 and be appointed by the current President of District 2. The committee shall review and rankeligible applications and forward its recommendations to the District 2 Board for final approval and award of the grants.

TIME LINE:
All application materials are due by 5 pm on Friday, August 29, 2014 and may be submitted via postal mail or email. Grant recipients will be announced after the September District 2 Board Meeting.
Grant recipient must attend program/training/conference to receive reimbursement. Expenses must be incurred before March 31, 2015. Receipts and a reimbursement request must be submitted to District 2 by March 31, 2015. Requests submitted without receipts or requests submitted after March 31, 2015 will not be reimbursed.
