This rehearsal will be run on a tight schedule so please arrive 10-15 minutes early so as not to miss your technical rehearsal time on the stage. Dancers are free to leave when not rehearsing their dance(s). Dancers should wear dance rehearsal clothes and proper dance shoes. NO COSTUMES WILL BE WORN AT THIS TECHNICAL REHEARSAL! PLEASE DO NOT BRING COSTUMES. We will not be using the dressing rooms for the technical rehearsals.

DRESS REHEARSAL- Friday, June 17, 2011 6:00PM at the Center for the Arts.

All dancers performing in both shows will participate in this dress rehearsal. This dress rehearsal will be run like a real show with no pauses between numbers. We will have a 15 minute intermission between Act I and Act II. This year Dazzlers Competition dances will be incorporated into the evening show. Therefore, competition dances will also be rehearsed in full costume at the dress rehearsal.

Bring all costumes to dress rehearsal. Wear your hair and make-up the way you intend to wear it for the recital. Mothers and /or fathers are welcome at the rehearsal. In an effort to hold down confusion and noise, I ask that you please not bring other family members or friends. We should be finished rehearsing by 9:00 p.m. Remember, no food, candy, or drinks inside the auditorium. Check the program to see which dance you are doing first. If you are in more than one dance, be sure to know the of your dances.; Mothers in charge of each dance class request that you all stay together with your class as a group so they can bring you to the stage at the correct time.

*All dancers performing in “Cirque du Danse” are required to attend both the technical rehearsal and the dress rehearsal.

Note: At dress rehearsal only, dancers can watch the show from the auditorium in costume but must be dressed and backstage lined up for their own numbers 3 numbers ahead. We cannot come to the auditorium to get you. Please keep quiet while in auditorium. Some dancers will have too many costume changes to watch from the auditorium.

Additional Information:

NO COSTUMES WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE AUDIENCE THE NIGHT OF THE SHOW! Students not in Act I may sit in the audience with their parents in street clothes and tights until Intermission when each mother is responsible to bring them backstage and dress them for Act II. All students are to remain backstage for the rest of the show in costume so they can participate in the final curtain call.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Each class needs one mother to supervise and make sure that their class is where it should be at the proper time. Keep in mind you will not see the entire show the day of the recital as you will be backstage, but you will have the best seat in the house when you get to watch your child from the wings on stage! If you are interested, see the signup sheet on the bulletin board. In the past, some parents have hired a babysitter for backstage with the entire class splitting the cost.

COSTUMES, HAIR, MAKEUP: Be sure to bring all costumes to dress rehearsal and recital. They should be steamed and have all hooks and eyes sewn on as needed. Four safety pins are needed to secure separate tutus. Shoes should be clean and polished if not new, and tights should be the ones ordered with your recital costume. A thin piece of black elastic should be sewn on tap shoes to keep them secure on feet. Have your name in all costume parts, shoes, tights. Etc. Do not wear jewelry, colored nail or toe polish on stage. DO NOT WEAR UNDERWEAR BENEATH YOUR COSTUME. Your hair should be fixed to stay out of your face and should have enough bobby pins to secure your headpiece. I suggest a bun or high pony tail. Makeup is needed-include eye shadow, red or pink lipstick depending on costume color, blush and mascara. Older dancers (company and competition dancers) wear false eyelashes. Mothers are expected to dress their child in the proper costume and have them ready for the 2nd Act. Please return to your seat after your child is ready.

FAMILY SHOW FEE: Please make sure you have paid your $50.00 show fee which entitles you to 6 tickets per family. A slip was sent home recently asking you for your preference of show times for your tickets. If you have not done so yet, please return that slip to the studio. There will be tickets available for sale on June 6 and June 7 between 5:30-7:00 pm at the studio on a first come first serve basis. Anyone sitting in a seat will need a ticket. Please be sure your guests have their tickets in their possession when entering the auditorium. Moms will be issued a “mom badge” to wear as they need to be able to run back stage to assist with their children. However, if a mom plans on occupying a seat in the auditorium, she will need a ticket. Only females will be allowed in the backstage area as the girls will be changing costumes. Guests please wait until after the show to greet and congratulate dancers. Thank you. No costumes will be distributed until all past due tuition, June tuition, and show fee have been paid. Thank you.

SEAT SAVING: There will be absolutely no seat saving at the dress rehearsal or for the productions. Doors to the auditorium will be opened at 12:15 for the Matinee show and 5:15 for the Evening show. Please do not use side doors to go backstage –they will be locked for all shows. It will be necessary to walk around to get backstage.
