Professional/Project Experience
07/2016–PresentAnalysis of Activity Data from Smartphones, University of Oxford, Oxford, UK
- Final year project to create a software module that will harness the signals coming from a generic smartphone to provide high accuracy physical activity markers. Ultimately, this module should run efficiently on a smartphone.
- Designed and developed an Android application to collect sensor data and upload to a web server via HTTP POST for algorithm development and testing. Java, PHP
- Developed two potential algorithms for step counting in real time, windowed peak detection and a continuous wavelet transform method, implemented these in a Python environment and tested exhaustively for the optimal algorithm and parameters. Python
07/2016-10/2016Networking ASIC Intern, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Roseville, California
- Designed and developed a flexible, permutable code generator for on-chip, microcode programs. Generated upward of 100 distinct programs.Python
- Designed and developed multiple tools for internal use including: a bitwise structure decoder, a simulation configuration tool, and a simulation comparison tool. Python
- Designed and developed an assembly simulator for a parallel computational slice containing two ALU units and a single memory manipulation unit. Implemented a CLI for access to the simulator and memory dumps. Python
- Set up unit and regression testing within internal Gerrit and Jenkins development toolchain. Python, Bash
10/2015-05/2016Optical Nanofabrication Facility, University of Oxford, Oxford, UK
- Third year group design project to design a fabrication and imaging facility, capable of fabrication on a sub-micron scale utilizing only optically based techniques.
- Designed the optical system layout for a stereolithography process and integrated this into the full system layout.
- Designed and developed the software module for the project. Generation of layer-based tool path inputs for the control system from a 3-D model file. Wrapped the functionality behind a Matlab-powered GUI for user access and control. C++, Matlab
