Graduate Fellowships

2012-2013

A total of $6,700 is available to award for three 2012-2013graduate scholarships: J. Herman & Jean Swartz Biotechnology Graduate Fellowship, J. Herman & Jean Swartz and Nate Narrance Graduate Fellowship,and J. Herman & Jean Swartz and Frances & William P. Werschler Graduate Fellowship.

Students applying for these fellowships must meet the following criteria:

1. Must be a full-time, graduate student at Eastern Washington University during the 2012-2013 academic year;

2. Must have a minimum 3.00 cumulative college grade point average; and

3. Must be accepted into the Graduate Program in Biology(specified interest in biotechnology or related lab/research field for the Biotechnology and Swartz-Werschler fellowships).

In order to apply for the scholarship, the following materials must be submitted to the Financial Aid & Scholarship Office by Friday, October 26, 2012.

1. The signed application form;

2. A letter (not more than 3 pages) containing the following elements: (1) lab, field, or Biology-related research/experience; (2) a professional goals statement; (3) description of your thesis project; (4) how this scholarship will assist in completing your thesis research and/or achieving your professional goals; (5) anticipated completion date of graduate degree (identifying progress to date and timeline for completing remaining elements); and (6) any other pertinent information you feel the committee should know in judging your application;

3. Transcripts for all college level work, including courses completed at EWU (you may submit unofficial or EagleNet copies); and

4. Two letters of recommendation from persons addressing your merit for this scholarship.
